Or get 50 more MPG!I’m waiting for 0w-0 oil to make my engine last 200x as long
Or get 50 more MPG!I’m waiting for 0w-0 oil to make my engine last 200x as long
Already get that with 5w-30Or get 50 more MPG!
No doubt sums it up for me as years ago he was decent at best. I think somebody like Eric the Car Guy is worth watching as he calls things like he sees it and doesn't seem biased, actual useful/honest content for many. Kilmer has faded and goes on and on about how much he has made off of YT clicks and seems all he focuses on these days. The clickbait titles are a bit out there and once he started with the 'you're stupid if you ________' just did it for me. Only stupid thing these days would be clicking on his vids to earn him more than he actually deserves.SK is significant clickbait, lots of BS, with some good and some bad info in many of his videos. He's a data point, and little more. I have learned a lot from him, but sadly, I know enough to know he's sometimes totally wrong about things.
He obviously makes a good living on his videos and clicks. I rarely watch him any more b/c of his hyperbole clickbait, every day, "I'm leaving," and "Ford is finished," and "Chevy is ruined and out of business," and "Honda will never sell another vehicle again," and more "This is my last video, goodbye...". I really tired of his nonsense clickbait.
Haha then we will see that having no oil will make the engines last foreverI’m waiting for 0w-0 oil to make my engine last 200x as long
I loathe the day when a 0w-20 user will be called a thickie.Haha then we will see that having no oil will make the engines last foreverFuture members here will be like, "Stop running that thick molasses 0W-0 in your engines, you'll increase startup wear!!"
Maybe 0w-16 caused this. 25 mile in town drive .Or get 50 more MPG!
I am indeed convinced some posters need more fibre in their diet.I don't believe I've ever watched an SK video, I just wait until somebody posts the rough transcript on here. I refuse to give that clown clicks. @clinebarger or @Trav tossing out advice in Russian using Google Translate while taking a dump would have significantly more technical merit, and wouldn't be delivered with the hyperbolic spin this guy appears to be famous for, nor the "Ross from friends" drama.
So i was watching a scotty vid and i normally don't dislike him or mind the majority of this silly harmless clickbait but in his most recent vid he said 0w-16 makes your engine last twice as long and i couldn't help but laugh but also get a bit upset over absurd thinnie propaganda.
I guess i get why people have this "the thinner the better" mentality and are scared of using a 0w-20 instead of 0w-16 even though they're basically the same. They'll just see that someone they believe is credible saying thinner means vastly superior and will stick to it no matter what.
Haha that's AWESOME!!I loathe the day when a 0w-20 user will be called a thickie.
Well the oil is being diluted by fuel. Oil dilution. Does that not make sense? Ignore the commonality of the phrase 'fuel dilution' and think about it. One could say "dilution by fuel", but that's still... oil dilution. If it was my first time reading "fuel dilution" I'd think someone was referring to their fuel being diluted. This guy has turned into such a hack, there was a point where he was like a decent old timer shade tree, now he's just a nut off his rocker that doesn't even know what he's babbling about anymore, he had a video last week, where he repeatedly said "oil dillution" instead of fuel dillution and advised people to use 0W-16 on a vehicle that spec'd 0w-20 I think, the change in oil would have nothing to do with fuel dilution, only reprogramming the computer, fixing a stuck injector (if be the problem,) or changing driving habits would account for major changes in fuel dilution.
Nah ... it's pretty much taken as fuel dilution of the oil. Or saying it another way, it would be oil being diluted by fuel. It could only be that way regardless of how it's said since we talk about oil in this forum, not fuel.If it was my first time reading "fuel dilution" I'd think someone was referring to their fuel being diluted.
In his defense, he was referring to the "shield" emblem of GF-6B and not specifically the grade.
True but the shield is only available with the 0w-16 grade. The problem is that he didn't say to not use it unless it calls for it and some will take it as using thinner than spec'd thinking thinner is better.
Regular people think that anything more modern is better and to use newer stuff in older stuff especially if someone they see as credible said so but didn't disclose not to do it in some situations because they didn't.
He said that the 0W-16 can only be used in engines that call for it. That's pretty much saying to use it only if it calls for it.The problem is that he didn't say to not use it unless it calls for it and some will take it as using thinner than spec'd thinking thinner is better.

Better have a talk with all those car manufacturers who recommend the whole spectrum of oil viscosity for their engines not being used in the CAFE driven USA.Im much more a fan of people who think thinner is better than I do the people who still want to put 10w-30 in their engines, like its still 1985.
