09 Ranger- 5r44e trans pan/drain plug options?

My new Ranger has the 5r44e transmission. I would like to have a pan that has a drain plug, does it exist?

I know I can get a kit where I can do it myself, but i've heard leaks are common with those.

Any opinions/options for this transmission? The goal is to drain/fill every 15-20K or so, I don't want to drop the pan that often though.

Many people are using suction pumps and pulling fluid out through the dipstick hole. Pela is a popular brand.

So the 5r55e and 5r44e are the exact same transmissions I know, what's the difference? I ask because the site doesn't specifically mention the 5r44e, only the 5r55e. Can I still use this pan on my transmission?

Why the 4wd filter? I see it mentions the tube, but not sure why it has to be the 4wd filter.

Thanks for the links guys, that pan looks awesome. Plus, with 3qts over capacity and using synthetic ATF, my trans should be in good company. Judging by specs, a drain/fill should yield 8qts of ATF, which I'm completely happy with.

You shouldn't have a problem. The pans have the same bolt pattern. The 55E has a different bellhousing since it's behind the 4.0, and upgraded internal parts to handle more torque.

I guess they designed the pan to work with the pickup tube on the 4WD filter. The 2WD filter doesn't have one. Since they specifically say to use it, I would.

Ok, I see. Thanks for the response. Like I said, I love the +3qt capacity as well as the drain plug.

Oops, forgot one thing. With this pan, will the dipstick still read accurately? Say I drain 5 qts when I drop the pan. The 5qts drained plus 3qts over capacity, so 8 qts would put the trans on the right spot of the dipstick?

Just making sure.
