They're not a big name in the US market for one simple reason, lousy marketing. Be honest guys. When was the last time you saw a television or print ad for Mitsubishi?
The amazing thing is that Mitsubishi Motors America seems to be oblivious to this simple fact. I can't help but think that the people at MMA have no previous experience in the auto business and haven't a clue just what the heck they're doing.

Nowadays, up north I see more Mitsu ads as opposed to Toyota ads... Scary, but true.
It's practically the same car as the 380,in left hand drive.Don't know why they call it a Galant,the Galant and Legnum are the next size down.I work for a Mitsi dealer,and we had 380's in yesterday and today both for a major service,cambelts and water pumps.We don't see many 380's,maybe half a dozen in our area at the most.But we are a rural area,and sell Triton's to the farmers,and Lancers or Colts to the farmers wife.
They seem a very good car,really nice to drive.We don't have any problems with them at all.

I actually like the 2.4L in the Galant with the old 4 speed auto. In 0-60 runs, it kept up with the conparable Accord, Camary, and Altimas with 5 speed automatics.
The MIVEC on it gives it a very broad torque band that is almost weird to have on such a small engine.

I had a '89 Galant. It was sold as a Dodge "2000" here in Canada. It was probably the best car I ever owned. I purchased it a year old and I drove my wife to the hospital to give birth to our son. I traded it in 15 years and 300 000 kms later for my (used) 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. My son was a couple of months short of driving the car that he was almost born in! The only problem it ever gave me was a stuck thermostat. Nothing else but regular maintenance.
