Perhaps.
For many years, the PCM read anything over 165º was considered 'normal operating temperature'. Newer computers and sensors maybe more sensitive or programed to be so.
The plugs themselves: no.
The computer can't tell what heat range the plugs are.
 
Nahh... It needs a TMFIFES tune up.

Some cars simply need higher octane than is called for.

With this one, see if she is running hotter than normal - a possible thermostat or radiator problem.
Also, intake air that is hot.
EGR systems that are not flowing right will also cause pinging.
Trickling water in the intake while revving it up and keeping it running will get carbon out of the combustion chamber, and is safe and cheap.
I recommended the higher octane , and still do, but these things should be checked.
 
I thought there was. I read how to put a blower on and thought EGR was there. I want to put a 3v in my 02 so then I can skip The EGR when tuning?
