I understand this isn't a life or death question but am interested in some opinions. I plan on doing an OC next weekend. In my stash, I have Red Line 5w-20 and 5w30 as well as a bunch of Motorcraft 5w-20 and a case of M1 5w-20 and 0w-40. For filters I have the stock Honda (Fram) a couple of PureOne's and a couple of NAPA Gold's from FLEETFILTER. I drive about 2300 mostly highway miles a month and don't plan on changing the oil again until the weather breaks again, sometime in March. Which combination of the above would best allow me to meet this goal?

I also came across 6 quarts of Exxon Superflow 5w30 full synthetic in my basement. This stuff was made before the Exxon/Mobil merger. Anyone familiar with that elixir?

I would stay with the 20wt. for winter. For the longer duration and cold winter. I probably would stay awar from the Motorcraft. If you want to go with the Motorcraft you could consider mixing a quart of RedLine in there.

I have used a quart of RedLine with Mobil 1, Motorcraft, Havoline, Tropartic and Castrol 0W-30. I just think RedLine makes a good oil booster. My oil analysis on all of these mixes were very good.

I would go with M1 5w-20 and Honda filter for 10k miles, because your Civic is still under warranty.

For him, it's the OLM. 2006+ Civics have a flexible service interval, not a time/distance interval.

I would use M1 5w-20 and the FRAM filter.

Mobil 1 5w-20. Mobil 1 may be using grp III, but it has still proven itself as a good oil for extended drain intervals.

I'd go with the napa gold or pureone filter, because of their better construction and steel end caps for an extended oci.

M-1 and Napa Gold or the RedLine with Napa Gold. I would supplement either once with LC (Lube Control). You are looking at putting on around 10K by April 1st. That's alot of miles for 1st time use of any synthetic oil. The first OCI with synthetics should be a bit shorter than normal.

thanks for the input. I think I'll go with the RedLine and NapaGold. As for the superflow...yep, old stuff in Gold bottle, I think the Ariens snowblower will be happy this year
