Perhaps one of the brake calipers is starting to 'bind.' You might try to keep an eye on the brake pad wear to ensure it remains even on inside and outside pads. Also might try to gauge if there is a problem of brakes dragging by feeling for unusual heat in one wheel (difficult to assess perhaps).

23-25 with 50% city is probably about right unless the same usage pattern used to give you a lot more. coil pack won't do much unless you have problem, O2 may give you a slight boost but I'd be surprise if it is more than 1mpg, MAP/MAF will not change mpg much but will make your car run smoother and if having problem, will give you either idle or high speed misfire (from my experience).

My money is betting 1 of the spark plug is loose, or has a hair line crack / carbon trace, that increases misfire rate a lot. I notice similar problem in my Taurus when mpg suddenly goes down by 3.

Ok, after this very conservative run I was able to get only 23 mpg gallon.

buster: How long have you owned your Accord? Reason I ask is to find out if you have been through more than one winter.

I've had mine since last March and a ScanGauge II installed since last May. The best I've gotten for freeway MPG was 36 with the cruise set at 70MPH for 200 miles (October with A/C off). I've gotten close to 39 on slower roads. I have noticed once the gas stations switched over to winter fuel, MPG has dramatically decreased. I'd be lucky to get 28 on the freeway with 26 being normal now. It will be interesting to see if it goes back up once we switch back to summer fuel.

Thanks for posting. I've had the car for almost 8 years. 164,000 miles. I'm not sure why I'm just noticing it. On the highway I average 80 mph. My commute is 14 miles of mixed city/highway.

Based on what you and others have said, I think it may be the fuel.

When was the last time valves were adjusted? I get 25 mixed in my V6 accord (AT)and i have a heavy foot. Can try changing A/F sensor and cleaning MAF but doubt it will give you that much if any at all. Make sure tires are aired up properly. My bet is poor quality fuel.

I have given up trying to calculate MPG in Winter. Too many variables to effect true calculations. My best advice...Wait 3 months.
