Hey guys I'm new to all this stuff but I have learned a lot from this board. I bought an '04 Accord 4 cyl LX in March and have 3500 mi on it.
I am planning on changing the oil at 4000 mi.
I have a kit (Blackstone) and my question is:
Is anyone interested in seeing a UOA from the original factory fill and is there value that I can derive from analysis of the original fill? I plan on doing these up till maybe 30-40K mi. from here on out. What do you think?

It's definitely interesting to see the composition of the factory fill, plus it gives you a good idea of how the engine is breaking in if you do a UOA right from the very start.

I would recommend doing it. I went 6800 miles on my factory oil in an 02 Accord V6 & it was too long. I wouldn't have known that any other way (until I found this site). Like Patman said, it gives you a complete history of the car from the get-go. I assume they are still using an oil extremely high in moly.

I did it for my own knowledge. And with Honda now recommending 10k mile OCI for "normal" service, I would be very interested.

Ok I'll do it and post the results here in a month or so. BTW I would like to scan in the Blackstone report itself (seeing is believing,LOL)
How do I do this? Should I scan the report and
save that as a PDF file, then run Adobe Acrobat
and do a cut and paste? If anyone could help me
with advice about that it would be great.

I look forward to seeing your results, I have 1600 miles on my new Accord I4 EX-L. I was planning on the first oil change at the 5,000 mark. Your results will be a good indicator whether the factory fill hold's up well.

At my first oil change I plan on using M1 synthetic 0-20W. Seems like the UOA I have seen, suggest that as a good oil to use.

Lukey, just send me the PDF and I'll massage the file for posting onto the net.
