It looks like the dome light bulb on my wife's Elantra doesn't work.
checked fuses: all OK.
removed the bulb and it looks funny: longish bar-like bulb, with 2 end terminals: the filament looks ok, but must be something wrong with it.

the bases have this printed on it:
KD 12V 10W 3B
so I guess the bulb is a type "3B"? I looked everywhere online I can't seem to find one to buy...
would Advanced Auto or Auto Zone have this bulb ?

or does it have to be the dealer?

The bulb looks symmetrical, and both ends looks exactly the same, no (+) or (-) markings anywhere..
How do I know which way to put it in? or does that matter?

Dome lights and trunk lights of some Honda cars are similar to that one. You can find it at auto part stores. Take the faulty one to store to get the matching bulb.

It doesn't matter how you install it.

yep. and that bulb is what AAP have on their system, and it is SHORTER !!! the bulb I took out of the car is much longer !!!

i don't know what's up with this bulb; I looked everywhere in AAP and walmart and didn't see any bulb like the one I took out;
there were some similar length ones, and they were all 5W.
The one I took out is a 10W bulb.

I got the short ones (correct wattage) with the correct number anyway, and gonna see if I can somehow move the "clips" to make that bulb go in, when wifey gets home...

will update in a few hrs...

This is really weird; both AAP, and Walmart people are stumped.

The bulb is the kind that looks like a glass fuse right? The replacement dome light bulbs I've seen at auto part stores were shorter, slightly larger diameter and the ends were pointed.

I had the same problem when I was looking for the bulb for the Camry trunk light, also 10W if I remember right. Couldn't find it at the major auto part stores. The Sylvania catalog list one that has sharp ends which works but does not fit right. Ended up going to the dealer and they had to order it, ~$4 for one bulb.
