EQUIPMENT MODEL: 5.3L 327 CI V-8
OIL USE INTERVAL: 5,100 Miles
Miles on truck: 11,500
OIL TYPE & GRADE: Mobil 1 10w30
MAKE-UP OIL ADDED: 1 qt
Oil used from 1/15/03 - 7/15/03
Previous oil was Castrol 10w30
(From Blackstone) JASON: Your new 5.3L Vortec engine is still undergoing wear-in at 11,510 miles so the above average wear metals (see universal averages) are not unusually high, considering the circumstance. We would like to see lead lower since it comes from bearing inserts, but chances are, it will read lower in the next sample. Silicon and all the other metals should drop a little too. This appears to be 10w30 oil and we have no problem with the oil use interval, though it may be a little long considering wear-in. No gas or anti-freeze found. Use 4,000 miles next sample.

This oil did better than I thought it would because I run this thing very hard most of the time and drive mostly short trips to and from work. Something else I thought was strange is it used a full quart by 2,500 miles of this interval but from 2,500 to 5,100 it didn't use a drop.code:
