I would like to hear what filters people have used, liked, and best bang for the buck for their Honda's. I have a 02 Accord 140k 2.3 liter 4 cylinder V-TEC. I have used the Purolator PureOne for along time, and recently when running conventional 7500 OCI using the filter for 2 OCI's as Honda recommends for total of 15k OCI. I have a few filters I have gotten with oil specials, K&N, Napa Gold, Purolator white can. I have some good conventional I plan to run I purchased on clearance.

I would like to hear what people use, and like on filter for this motor/car, also what length OCI are they good for. Do you think it's better to go with a cheaper filter change every OCI, or every other OCI with a better filter ?..or top it and a cheaper filter for 15k ?

I done a forum search, a advanced google search of the site with no hits at all, sorry if I'm a repeat questionnaire !! What's a good filter cross reference website ?

Purolator P1 is good filter and it doesn't cost much, you're using it for 2 OCI's so that you got your money back already, I would not try cheaper filter for 15k miles.

Is this still the l14610? I had an 01 4cyl accord, and for whatever reason I don't think it was.

But anyway, I don't think the classic/white can purolator can be beat in either this or the sae thread equivelant 14477 when you consider price, but the P1 is obviously an improvement on it... with an extra cost. I'm not a two-oci on one filter person, but that is tempting especially considering where the filter is on your car.

2000 Accord v6 136k miles. I used Purolator white can-now known as 'Classic' for about 4 years. Got them on close out for around $1.75 each, Ran great on M1 5w30 for 6k intervals.

I think there should be a thread just for Honda filters. It seems like there are several new "which filter for my Honda" threads every week and they generally can use the same filters. It's either the short, wide 3593a size or longer, narrower 7317 size.

And to answer the op's question, I would change the filter every oil change. I don't know how you define cheap, but you'll probably end up with one of three major manufacturers when you buy in the store (Fram, Puro, and Champ). As a general rule, stay away from the regular Fram. Puro and Champ (Supertech 7317) are good.

I agree, any of the rergular puros or supertechs will get your job done just fine.

Oh yeah, this one still uses the 1334, I stand corrected. Although, the 1356 and 1334 are interchangeable. I've used both on my car.

I figured the post had already been asked a million times, however I done a search by forum (which sux) and by google advance which is good, however wording can be tricky. Looks like the Pureone filter is about the best bang for the buck with 15k. I run synthetic a lot as well trying to run out to 15k, but catch myself changing around 13k. I had a hard time changing oil only leaving the filter on, but I figured if the OEM says it's ok, and the extended OCI's... I hope I'm not being to cheap in this one point..

The purolator white can is L14459, I think I ran the same filter on a 97 Accord 4 cylinder.

Thanks for the replies, as others have said it looks like I'm already getting the very best bang for my pureone buck.. One more question, please feel free to give opinions on above if you have anything to add, but what about the Mobil 1 extended drain filters ? I remember doing a long OCI on my 97 accord (around 15k) and how heavy the filter was at the end of the run got the filter on a oil change special Mobil EP, and the Mobil filter. I did not cut it open, I just remeber it was really heavy.

From what I've read, Mobil 1 filters are very good. I just feel that PureONEs are the best bang for the buck with Napa Gold/Wix coming in a close second in my mind. I don't run my oil changes past 5,000 miles typically so spending over $10 for a filter doesn't make much sense to me. Running it for 15k though, I could justify the cost.

I was going to quote, and correct, however you beat me to it. Before my BOIG days I always ran a Pureone, or Nap Gold/ Wix. I have one now I wanted to compare some filter (way to cheap to cut open new filter haha) and it is a Napa Gold 1334.

I tried putting everything one short paragraphs as to not get off topic, however I have a K&N left over from a oil change special, I would not turn one down in a oil change deal, and will sure run it, I would like to hear opinions on this so I can keep up with everything in one thread. I'm still trying to search over the filter forum.

Thanks very much to everyone for the help/opinions.

Yes.
K&N and Mobil 1 Extended Performance filters are good too.
They cost more so you don't read much about them.

I never have gone cheap, I guess. I use M1 oil and M1 filters. Following the MM, I usually get an 8k mile OCI.
