'01 Honda CRV Oil Change

I'd second that the ring was a bad idea, but I'm guilty of it often.

Anyway, Honda changed the K series (accord, CRV, Element, Civic SI) over to an easy to get to bottom location starting in about 2008. The L series as well (Fit) and I haven't done an R series yet so I'm not sure about them. I'm two years early, so I have a similar problem.

Some turn the wheel all the way to the side and go through the wheel well. I haven't mastered doing that without a mess.

Oh well.

There are honda techs who work at the dealership that have reported numerous problems with the new civics, accords and other models. Big problems with cracked blocks (STILL, after all these years), leaky racks, over-sensitive sensors, and lots of other baggage.

Like I say, I'm not impressed. Honda is on the way down, and anybody that would buy an overpriced Honda today is a fool. My .02.

My wife's 09 Accord is pretty nice. I've changed the oil I believe 3 times now and did a drain/refill on the AT fluid once. It's about to his 1.5 years old with 16k. I rotated the tires once. The engine vibrates under load (AC on, etc) at idle. Appears somewhat normal but that's my only complaint.

change oil in an 04 crv yesterday, the wheel well was what worked for me. turned the wheels hard-over left and used my strap wrench with a long extension. i was doing good until i realized my filter wrench wouldn't fit that smaller than my lawn mower filter, but the strap wrench worked.

we changed our old 00 CRV's oil all the time, no issues. Filter was probably over tightened.

I love the way the RDX's filter is, you can change it without putting up on jacks or ramps.. easy breazy!

My Prelude is like the CRV, in a pain in the [censored] place to get to but still doable with ramps.

Most Honda 4-cylinders are like this. You can't get to the filter from the top, either.

Awful design.
