    Bought a 2014 BMW 328d 💸

I was planning on running 15w40 valvoline synthetic diesel oil. It shouldn't plug the DPF because there isn't one. And even though it's the original timing chain the cam sensor offset still looks good in ISTA. A quality timing set is like $450, still better than a fuel pump for $1200.

    Bought a 2014 BMW 328d 💸

If you take good care of the car the fuel pump will last just fine, but if it does fail it's expensive and it's driven off the timing chain which is sandwiched between the engine and transmission. I've installed a disaster prevention kit which reroutes the fuel return and feed lines and adds a...

    Bought a 2014 BMW 328d 💸

It's a 2014 328d. So far I've averaged 40mpg and that's half city traffic. Because it's a diesel it does sound a little funny and shake a little more than the gas i6 cars do but it drives great. Now I just have to save up for when the cp4 injection pump decides to make confetti

    My CX-9 totaled in accident

I drove a Subaru with eyesight automatic emergency braking for a while. It worked pretty well except in snow storms or thick for it would randomly engage the brakes. It also didn't help when I had to stop quick because it was a little slow to react, so I would see something happen and hit the...

VW may axe Taos and Jetta under restructure

I really think manufacturers should focus on making one really cheap car in their lineup. The smart people in the next generation isn't going to drop 40k on an equinox, they'll be driving used cars and cheap sedans because they can't afford anything more expensive or less fuel efficient. Now...

    Lets talk about new vehicles

2018 bmw 328d... it's not new but by '18 they fixed most of the timing chain issues and the best part is no lane keep or other "features" Oh and 40mpg is easily doable You will have to save for eventual emissions repair and it may leak oil but it's still cheaper and more comfortable than a...

    Are winter tires "worth it"?

I'm currently serving a mission in Alberta, Canada, for the Church of Jesus Christ, and they have Subaru crosstreks with nokian wrg5 tires for most of the missionaries. I can see how AWD can get you in trouble, because it's not that hard to get going fast in bad conditions but it is hard to stop...

    Chevy turbo max 4 banger

no it's probably quieter inside the truck. i was just out for a walk and a newer Chevy truck drove past, and sounded like a turbo 4 cylinder. not the same engine at all, just sounds similar. 2010-ish bmw diesels other than that, give me simple efi with no can communications between modules...

    High Performance Lubricants Engine Cleaner

yes i understand that it cleans the ring lands, but if the rings are still free and able to seal just fine, then you don't really NEED to remove carbon. the engine will be fine either way. cars with bad design or bad maintenance will have more carbon, or the carbon will actually cause issues...

    High Performance Lubricants Engine Cleaner

even supertech isn't bad, it's hot running engines, bad designs, or bad maintenance that cause carbon or sludge.

BMW cartridge oil filter - correct installation?

i like them because its easy to see anything that got caught in the filter. and as the cap and filter spin, the little pin should self align with the hole.
