Rebuilt and sort of re-engineered Dirty Hands Splitter

How did this work out for you? Aluminum fuel tank would make for some additional cooling. I think many missed the dual stage pump and thought it was a straight 28 gpm.

What's the downside to using 0W-30 vs 5W-30?

What temperatures will the car see? Often a 0W-XX oil will shear down faster due to more VII used. So a 5W-XX oil can last longer, but that isn't a rule, and different engine designs shear oil faster than others.

Used tire orientation for even tread wear

Touring LST model. 215/65R16 size Two are perfect, and two are like this one. I was thinking of putting two feathered ones on the rear. They were so cheap i couldn't say no.

Used tire orientation for even tread wear

I bought some Sumitomo tires on marketplace for cheap. These will go on my Camry Hybrid for summer highway commuting. Two of the tires have some feathering wear on one side. Is it best to mount the feather wear on the outside and which direction should the sawtooth go to counter and wear...

Looking for advice on VW Golf 1.8T 195/65R15 tires

Michelin have never steered me wrong. But they have never been cheap. Ive had some Yokohamas that lasted well in heat. Your climate will more than likely change how tires will last compared to our collection of experiences in cooler climates. Tires age out and heat and UV seem to accelerate...

Just ordered $1300 of stuff from Rock Auto, they no longer ship to Arizona...WHAT?

It seems kind of like the shopping mall conundrum. Back 40 years ago businesses paid rent to be in the mall as it was a one-stop shopping experience for people and almost guaranteed more customers. But the mall idea is a dinosaur now with online shopping. That isnt necessarily a bad thing...

Classic cars restricted to weekend use bill introduced (Minnesota)

Its the day limits which seem very overly restrictive. An annual mileage limit and proof af another normally registered vehicle seems reasonable. In Maine I must register every year and pay excise tax which is based on the vehicle's origional base price, unadjusted for inflation. So my 1959 Ford...

Classic cars restricted to weekend use bill introduced (Minnesota)

California does that with diesels. Make older ones pass emissions that are current. A lot of trucks went away because of that. I think that was their goal.

    Hybrid Oil Change Intervals (OCI)

Something to consider doing is basing your OCI on fuel consumed or on engine hours if that data is available. I have an older Toyota hybrid and it seems the ECU runs the engine a lot more when the engine is cold. It is more "reluctant" to use battery until the engine is warm and then it starts...

    New Bridgestone tires ride horribly!

Im genuinely curious why you bought new wheels that were still 17"? If you are looking for ride/comfort go down at least to 16" and get a 225/70R16. More sidewall and less wheel will always improve ride while sacrificing some handling. Ive gone with smaller wheels and seen a huge improvement in...

What is your favorite 16 ft. Tape Measure

Stanley FatMax. Ive built several large buildings, measure lots of pipe, and i always come back to FatMax. I guess Milwaukee must have improved. I bought 2 of their tapes (I have several thousand dollars of their cordless tools) and it was possibly the worst tape ive ever used. I actually threw...

    2025 3500 RAM 6.7 Cummins; 10w30 vs 5w40

ZF6 or G56 more desirable? Ive driven a couple of ZF6 equipped trucks, but not a G56. The ZF was very nice, one was a 250,000 mile unit and still shifted very well.

    2025 3500 RAM 6.7 Cummins; 10w30 vs 5w40

Yeah, its lame that they do that. Derating for manuals is usually due to the loss of torque multiplication of a torque converter i believe. But we all know a manual is more efficient at putting that power/torque to the ground. That is why it doesn't need a cooler. Heat=power lost. I am aware...

    2025 3500 RAM 6.7 Cummins; 10w30 vs 5w40

All of my vehicles, accept my work van (not an option) are manuals. All, have full instrumentation, installed by me. And I have yet to feel any difference in oil. However, the "thinnest" oil ive ever used is 5w-30. So I guess ive been missing out all these decades!

    2025 3500 RAM 6.7 Cummins; 10w30 vs 5w40

My butt dyno hasn't been able to detect a more nimble or "better running" engine by lowering viscosity. Now if I were at the track and doing repeatable runs and changed viscosity and shaved some time/or gained HP in a non-butt-operated dyno id believe it. All ive noticed is more "clatter" in...

Low Profile Tires - Not For Me

I think it must be for looks that OEMs are going with larger and larger wheels and rubber band tires. It hurts fuel economy, but improves handling. Suprising all the "economy cars" get 18+" wheels and 55-65 aspect ratio tires. An economy car used to come with 12 or 13" wheels. Netting...

Upsize my 2025 Transit 350 HD!

Wow, surprisingly low profile for a huge van. I like a large sidewall for ride, and general economy on fleet vehicles.

Upsize my 2025 Transit 350 HD!

What does the transit come with from the factory? Firestone or Continental C rated 225/75R16? I may be intrested in your take-offs for my Promaster 2500.
