I am going thru the same thing for my 2015 X5 35i, did you ever run with a cheaper alternative that is the same weight and GL-5 like OEM? I also found a cheaper Honda alternative that seem to be the same spec but says that it is specifically formulated for Honda.

I am pretty sure they all do, how many pre ignition events occur or how severe varies I guess and there is an ASTM test done that documents these pre ignition events. Although this is more of a concern on on smaller direct injection turbo engines so it may be a non issue on my 3.0L inline 6.

Yeah I am just curious, I am sure the difference for me would be negligible. I have a BMW N55 with an upgraded turbo, E50 tune, water/meth injection, etc. and I change the oil (Edge Euro 0W-40) every 3k. But I have seen that SP rated oils are better for LSPI, etc. on direct injected engines.

It doesn't matter really, was just wondering how it stacks up to M1 0W-40, Castrol A3 0W-40, etc. I had never heard of Amalie, but it looks like it has been around forever.
