I have a 1962 BN7 Austin Healeyy 3000 and tried many different transmission lubes...Everything from ND 30 weight to 20w50 VR1, etc, etc. Nothing worked as well as Redline MT 90 ...It's all that I will ever use in this cars transmission.

This is the memo I received from Porsche Motorsport regarding the oil recommendation for my 991 GT3 Carrera Cup race car.

Vavlvoline VR1 20w50 for the engine , Redline MT-90 for the gearbox or straight 30 weight motor oil, and any 75w90 gear oil you can find for the diff. Have used this combo in my English Austin Healey for decades.

In this application "best" is going to end up being whichever oil makes you feel better when you drive the car.

I've seen many professional Porsche teams show up at races with cases of Mobil 1 0w40 from Wal-Mart,etc. and run it. Lot's of 911 factory race cars have never used anything else...I see others using Motul 5w40 and a few others....But those are the two primary off the shelf oils I've seen.

Both of these are Raced hard. They both get Motul 300V 5w40. We can Safely do 12 hour OCI's. Again, you are Peeing in the Wind trying to find a Magic Elixir...You've likely wasted more on oil by now than it would have cost to fix the flaw. Enjoy your GT3.

I'm extremely familiar with the 9A1 motor....No Oil is going to prevent the failures that the early ones experienced. Oil is Not going to stop it. It was a design flaw. Read some more, there's a fix...get it done and enjoy your 911. I'm not trying to sound Short...I've been there and done...

Wowza. Just drive the car and change the oil every 4-5000 miles. Use an A40 oil.

Honestly this is so silly...I have raced and owned Porsches for 26 years now....We have raced 11 different cars with various motors, both air cooled and water cooled...Currently racing a 991.1 GT3 Cup with the Mezger engine...Our race motors will easily go 12 hours on Motul...

For a garage queen ?? Pick an approved oil, any of them with A40 cert...The Oil will never make a difference in this car and the car will never care one bit. Seems silly to fret over this.

The car does not know the difference when the oil is changed after 90 minutes of driver's education on a track. A DE does not place Any More stress on an oil than a trip to the mall in a Porsche. It's a waste of time and $$ even if you have both of them to waste is all I'm pointing out. If...
