    Using filter longer

How many of you use a filter for the length of the "mileage on the box"? Since Walmart seems to be empty, and I prefer the cheapest filter and change them every time (6-8k miles), how many of you would take, say, a Mobil 1 filter that says 20k miles and run it for 12-15k miles? I'm assuming...

    Negative equity

I randomly search for larger vehicles online. Found one local and it's at a used car dealer that tends to have a lot of "expensive" cars that are a few years old (i.e. Mercedes with 30-100K miles) and looking at the new vs. used price is RIDICULOUS. You can get a pretty decked out Mercedes for...

    Used 2022 Chrysler Voyager van

I have interest in a minivan but no hurry at all currently. Happened to do a search and see a 2022 Voyager for $19K with 65K miles on it. Two owners, about the first 30K was rental in Florida, next 35K was private in TX and then CA. Carfax says no accidents and has oil changes every about 6k and...

    Whats so great about Jeeps?

I've always wanted a Wrangler since I was a kid. But as I've grown up, I've wondered why they're so expensive for the fact they're made by Stellantis and share some parts with Pacificas. They're like an American icon. Just look cool and stuff. But I ain't paying that type of cash for one. Edit...

WalMart filling the shelves with Purolator filters.

What's the consensus on Purolator now? A long time ago it seemed to be "yay" then I recall "nay"...where are we now?

    Post your latest oil change

Nah, I was being sarcastic. Just the boring stock motor.

    Post your latest oil change

A high horsepower, naturally aspirated, 2017 Forester. Look, the engine will live a lot longer than my tolerance for replacing lug studs, wheel bearings, and CV axles on this car.

Out: Subaru 0w20 and Toyo Roki filter 6,500 miles. In: Kirkland 0w20 and Fram Extra Guard 7317 I only use the best products in my vehicles.

Our 261K mile old Honda Element had its first serious failure

$5500 would've been a big sigh but I would've done it, too. Better deal than a used one because you've owned it for so long and probably know it's other issues and how you've treated it (which sounds like you've treated it well). For the rest of us, I wish you'd have swapped an LS motor or...

    Walmart or Costco Batteries

I'm buying one of each and swapping them out in a proportional manner relative to the results of this posting. Nah, I'm checking Walmart and waiting for one to be in stock. Then I scratch my head and think, "what good is a warranty if I can't get a replacement" and realize maybe Costco is the...

    Walmart or Costco Batteries

Yeah, Internet folklore is to drive with your lights on (my wife always does) and it kicks the alternator out of gas saving mode. Not sure if it's true or not. But kinda makes sense. So given she drives it with headlights on (not just DRL), I think an AGM should get plenty of current? Correct me...

    Walmart or Costco Batteries

It has that nanny stuff. Not sure which modem. My battery didn't qualify for the thing a couple years back because it lasted too long. I guess 3-5 years is considered normal now. Edit: I'm also pondering a yellow top or one of the others meant for discharge since, a couple weeks each year, the...

    Walmart or Costco Batteries

Yeah, flooded is probably fine since that's what this car came with, but I feel like the electronics and heated seats and Starlink stuff drain so I'd like a battery that can tolerate being discharged overnight a little more. AGM might tolerate this better? I know a Red Top or X2 are probably...

    Walmart or Costco Batteries

I have a tester. Was showing mid quality. Dealer's Midtronics showed very similar. I'm not in a hurry, but it's losing life. My Honda used to go 8+ years. My Toyota was 9+. Both started load testing in the yellow and I replaced. Those were just standard flooded.

    Walmart or Costco Batteries

It's great battery weather and the car does 70 miles highway per day. So it's probably the max anyone could get from a Subaru. The other issue is that Walmart has been out of a lot of batteries when I check...including group 35. Costco has 4 billion in stock.

    Walmart or Costco Batteries

I'm a "dollars per year" thinker. So if the $190 AGM can't last more than 6 years, may as well go with their flooded version. Any other brands y'all recommend for the Subaru battery eaters? I've shopped around online, and most are a lot more expensive than these two options.

    Walmart or Costco Batteries

Like the title says---Walmart or Costco? AGM or regular? 2017 Forester. Batteries seem to last about 4 years before testing "meh" and I'll push about 5 before they sound scary starting the car. And we're about at that point. It seems Walmart warranty is better. $10 more expensive than Costco...

    Forester Click Clunk

Everything I've been reading says even though OEM lasts around 100k, go OEM cause most aftermarket CV only last a few thousand miles. Called the dealer and dropping it off in a couple days. He said if it's CV's it would be under $1500 for both front ones (I said I want both even if only one is...
