How should I deal with this rust on the underside of my older F-150

Exactly what I would do. Once in the Spring and again in the Fall.

    Ever eat possum?

NO on the possum. When I was in high school, another student in class said he went camping and killed a woodpecker. They cooked it and he said it tasted terrible. Everybody in class laughed.

    SQUIRREL Double back Fiasco

For a while, I lived in a small rural town with a lot of trees and squirrels. While walking to work, I would see some squirrels walking on top of the power lines. When they would get to a pole, they'd make a left or right turn and keep going. It was their highway system.

    Laundry detergent and product tampering?

Whenever I take an item off the shelf at Walmart, or any other store, I compare it to similar items. Oil - Stand two bottles next to each other and check for color, and volume. Mouthwash - check the safety seal and don't buy 'dented' bottles. Boxed items, check for factory tape (if there is...

I would hate to of been born a chicken. The chance of you being someone's 'pet' is very slim.

Article from Forbes discussion on USD collapse

I agree. But on the TV commercials, Chuck Woolery compares gold to CASH (sitting in a safe). Just that there shows me the commercial is trying to mislead people. For the average person, Vanguards Index 500 is the way to go.

    Unique Mahle filter construction

Looks like for some reason the 'base' is a two-piece construction. And that's the way the manufacturer decided to connect the two pieces.

School me on pepper spray, gel, foam, etc. Bonus point points for actual experience on dogs.

"A can of hornet / jellow jacket spray is just as effective. Sprays very far too." "WRONG" is correct. .... And to clarify why - Spraying someone with a spray not intended for humans could be against the law, especially if they lose their eyesight. I would just hate to have to explain it in...

School me on pepper spray, gel, foam, etc. Bonus point points for actual experience on dogs.

I believe you get a better aim if you use your thumb, NOT your forefinger to apply the spray. I carry pepper spray all the time (I watch the evening news). I have never used it, but I like the 'gel' more than the atomizing spray. Out in public .... I carry Mace 2.8 ounce container. While at home...

    ZAMAK and galvanic corrosion

I'm no expert, but for galvanic corrosion to occur, you need three things: 1) two different metals 2) they have to be touching 3) they have to get wet There is a galvanic corrosion chart that shows all the various metals and how compatible they are with each other...

    Brake fluid change topic

If you can do the work yourself, buy a quart of BF for <$10.00 and have the satisfaction of knowing you have ALL clean BF. I do mine every two years. If you need to pay someone to do this work, read your owner's manual (maybe doing every three years).

    Furnace keeps running almost non-stop?

I always thought the batteries were for maintaining the 'set' temperatures. And that the thermostat got power from the furnace. But I could be wrong. At least changing the batteries is inexpensive (and may eliminate one possibility).

    Furnace keeps running almost non-stop?

How efficient is the furnace ? Could be anywhere fron 80% thru 96% The less efficient, the more it will run.

Maximum age of dry powder fire extinguishers

Another concern for longevity is DO NOT sit them on the floor. They should be hanging on a wall (near an exit). Letting them sit on a floor may rust the bottoms. Here is an explanation of the letters and numbers (based on size of extinguisher)...

Maximum age of dry powder fire extinguishers

How long would I keep a fire extinguisher? Like anything, buy from a good manufacturer. I like Amerex. Mine are going on 8 years. I also have a Sentry that's 21 years old. Still checks ok.

Maximum age of dry powder fire extinguishers

I have several for home use. Yearly I will inspect them. 1) check pressure gage 2) slowly tip the extinguisher upside down and listen (and feel) for the powder to move (called sifting) I also tap the bottom with a rubber mallet to prevent clumping. If I had one in my vehicle, I would be more...
