New To Me...a car I never wanted.

Sorry about your mum Not sure I would hang onto a car with the emotional baggage and find a good person for it.

    Ford Escape Review

I rented a 2023 Ford Escape FWD with 1.5T in Puerto Rico. It managed 26 MPG in island stop and go driving. It’s noisy and motor starts up noisy and quiets quickly. Pros: Ice Cold AC Room for 5 Hold 3 large suitcase with ease Decent pep Reasonably comfortable Decent transmission Cons...

Thread for photos that 100% do not violate any Terms Of Service, not political, not too lewd, no gas price pics etc.

Little “off-roading” in Ford Escape on sand roads adjacent to beach in Puerto Rico.

    Apple watch phone options

Running and streaming music or talking on phone are a use case beyond a kid. Apparently 4th grade in an upper middle class community/1%ers Apple Watch is modern kid tracker amongst daughters friends.

    First Tesla purchase turning sour.

You can revisit 2024 ICE at 12 years+ when you have data also. There is none and massive changes implemented in last 11 years. 1995-2014 very subtle changes across ICE. I drive too many miles/year to car about the 10-12 year mark.

    First Tesla purchase turning sour.

The data on a 11 year old F150 is irrelevant to a modern one with a major tech change with eco boost, electronics and touch screens etc. The pool of 2024 20 year old vehicles is going to be substantially smaller than 2013s hitting 20 years.

    First Tesla purchase turning sour.

There is no long term data as data set is too small on EV to make anything meaningful to prove or disprove itself. It is rapidly evolving in tech and using data from old EV to a brand is similar to comparing a modern F150 to one 11 years ago. The reality is average car life is 12 years/200000...

    First Tesla purchase turning sour.

I do hope it works for you. A friend has one of these old Tesla as “beater” EV and works with limited/shortened range (less then original) in a very good place to own one Quebec. He is DIY and seems to be able to repair it.

    First Tesla purchase turning sour.

Irrelevant to topic of a person taking a chance on 11 year old car at auction. Buyer knows duds exist in all vehicles . You play the odds buying this stuff.

    Daughter's trip to JiffyLube

A friend with lift/side business does my oil for typically a $40ish charge + parts between his $50/hr labor rate and he calls disposal/cleanup. The parts run about $70 for oil change kit (filter/new plastic/oil) from FCP auto. Dealer charges $120 for similar thing. $100 is about right for...

Magazine's prediction on prices from 30 years ago appear to be off (tongue in cheek)

So people(complainers on inflation) were aware prices rise just choose not to be responsible and save a bit for future.

Wife thinks next vehicle should be an EV.

If she is up for barely used they are great bargains and if she does not like easy to dump off without much loss. My wife wants one too and we are looking to share one. We keep her ICE compact SUV.

Is my sliding door handle cable reversible?

Suggest looking for new one instead of breaking a working door. Brief google has Toyota door cables/parts coming back under $30. I believe in looking up parts you’ll find if unique part numbers for right/left doors.
