    1999 Camry. Not about money.

Hey all, I have a 1999 Camry I still drive. I don't care what it costs to maintain it. I like the car which is why I dont buy a 2026 Camry instead. So this isnt about cost. I also dont mind stocking specific fluids for all of my cars, so this isnt about convenience I have a true 50/50 split...

    Napa filters

Hey guys thanks for all this. I’m a very small shop - I just service my own inventory (Independant car dealer), my cars, and occasional good customers that ask. My shelf was only the “boxless” Napa proformer and I was just made aware by my local branch that they are no longer wix. The video...

Old oil, LOW miles: The TRUTH please?!

I got what I need :) thanks all. I hate to waste oil but I hate more to waste a motor lol This got me thinking I am not even sure if I want to drive the Majesta to my shop 10 minutes away. Oil is 2 years maybe a bit more. But only a few hundred miles. Guess I’ll bring the ramps home

Old oil, LOW miles: The TRUTH please?!

Hello! My wife and I have a handful of cars that are just driven in the summer once the roadstalt (look it up) has all melted away and before its used again, so in LOVELY Rochester, thats from mid April til mid October MAYBE. The rest of the time they are stored in garages with Mobil 1 and Wix...

    Shell Rotella T6 5w40 vs Mobil 1 5w30 in a 2UZ

Thanks. It’s not awful - maybe 1.5-2 quarts in 2,000 miles. Just a shame cause I’ve had cars with similar mileage that burn none I just wonder the consequences of using a diesel oil in a gas vehicle

    Shell Rotella T6 5w40 vs Mobil 1 5w30 in a 2UZ

Hey all My tundra is starting to burn a bit. Also, the thing seems to only get driven with 2500lbs in the bed or towing 6,000-8,500. It’s maintained with love and an open checkbook, but it’s got a hard life. I changed the oil on my JDM TurboDiesel camry tonight and was looking at my truck as...

Synthetic makes 1NZ-FXE louder. More than once

Prius absolutely is full hybrid, meaning it could go decent speeds with the engine off. All the way back to December 1997 in Japan, and of course 2001 here in America. The Prius that was just discontinued to make way for the fifth generation in 2023 goes at least 55 if not 65 with the engine...

Synthetic makes 1NZ-FXE louder. More than once

Oh of course! It’d be silly to think Walmart Owned and operated a n oil refinery! I don’t think they make anything - they just pay the people that do to put their name on it. But I did speak to someone there and was impressed compared to Much more costly brands like Mobil 1 and Valvoline. Keep...

Synthetic makes 1NZ-FXE louder. More than once

Pimtac. And wasn’t being rude but the whole thread is about new oil causing more motor noise / they said the motor was loud because of old oil, the exact opposite

Synthetic makes 1NZ-FXE louder. More than once

OK clearly you didn’t read the thread. The car was quiet for at least 600 miles with the old oil. I changed it, and it started getting a little louder immediately after the change. I just took out that fresh oil this morning and put in quaker state and now it’s quiet again.

Synthetic makes 1NZ-FXE louder. More than once

I don’t know it was a long time ago - but the specs compared well to higher end oils so I ran with it

Synthetic makes 1NZ-FXE louder. More than once

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. based on the factual data provided to me here, for which I am grateful, and I decided to drain the 100 mile or so old super tech and save it for later. I put in quaker state, which one of you told me has more Molly if I remember correctly, and the vehicle is back...

    Lubeguard Shudder Fixx

One way I always check bearings that are difficult is safely jack up the car and put it in drive, and then squeeze the coil springs as hard as you can. You will feel it in your hand on the side that has the tricky bad bearing. Usually axles won’t make a sound unless you are turning and that is...

    Lubeguard Shudder Fixx

Awesome, based on the symptoms you’re describing, the only chance that’s related to your transmission is if it is the bearing for the CV shaft, which I highly doubt. It’s either the CV or the wheel bearing. Also, never ever never ever ever forget tires! Just this pad year I have had four cars...
