    2021 Cessna Caravan in-flight breakup. . .

It's likely that the bottom container they were testing hit the rear when coming off.

    9 year old Everstart Maxx

Normally a battery up front near all that heat won't live over 3-5 years, but my original 2002 Dakota battery lived until 8 years. I caught it starting slow twice one day, and drove straight to Walmart for a new one. Something right about the Dakota charging system.

Synthetic oil in an air compressor

Motor oil shouldn't be used because of foaming. Look for SAE non detergent 30 weight compressor oil or ISO 100.

    Scratches visible after headlight restoration

I tried at least 10 different ways to restore my RX8 and BMW. I finally settled on just rub with Mothers Wheel cleaner everytime they get cloudy which is about every 2 months. I almost never even drive at night anyway. The Mothers is supposed to be about 3k grit I thought and has UV protection.

    The honeymoon is over

Sounds like the pads are loose enough to have some back and forth slop which is actually a good thing. I've heard that on a few vehicles.

    The $100 Oil Change

When I picked up my BMW in Munich 9 years ago, Mobil 1 0w40 was approx $100+for a 5liter jug. That was at a big box store, not the dealer. America has dirt cheap oil.

    Apple Maps complaint

I don't like being talked to while driving so I print Google maps. I can't tell you how many times a location is marked at wrong spot, and just crossing road to get back can be an hour. I've learned to Google exact building to make sure. Another annoyance is when using paper or different...

    Small chuckle from student driver

I remember the late 60's when a knew a grocery bagger that earned enough to buy a new $3k Plymouth Roadrunner. I bought a 70 Toyota corolla for $2400 which wasn't much cheaper, but a fun car. I was noticing the failing of US cars in especially rust control, and have always done something...

Local "Mom & Pop" tire shop changed hands.....

Discount is the best I ever saw, and I used to sell tires. Yeah, a guy put the Michelin PSS wrong side out, but I caught it at home. I tried to use them for my lower profile Michelin Ps4s 235'35r18's, and discount wouldn't do it. So, that bounced me off to the local Wheel World Rental place...

    Oil changes -natural gas engine

I ran my Mazda RX8 on Mobil 1 0w40, and changed it in 7 years and 7700 miles with a UOA. Oil thickened slightly to a more robust 40 weight while 0w40 starts as a light 40 weight. Clean natural gas is much easier than gasoline on engines.

    Wheel Spacer and Body Roll

My BMW X1 s28i was so twitchy in the front that I put 12mm spacers only on front, and it drives much better with maybe more understeer. The problem with Jeeps is that they have a very high center of gravity while being very short wheelbase. Your Mercedes has a long enough wheelbase to not be...

    Centric vs. Enduro

I've got centric ceramic pads on my RX8 mazda and rear X1 s28i. They are easy to modulate and have low dust. Centric is a major company, and have several types of braking material.

How To Remove Cooking Oil From Windshield?

I'll tell you what situation doesn't work. Trying to wet windshield and get ocean water off. It just dries with more salt. I learned to just rub with dry paper towel.

How To Remove Cooking Oil From Windshield?

First thing to use is mineral spirits (paint thinner or charcoal starter), and then, stoner window cleaner. I had some windshields that looked clean, but in rain wipers didn't even help. I used some Amway glass and metal, and then, Turtle wax detailer spray. It'll be a long time before I...

Need quick help on ideas to remove stuck license plate screws.

Strong pliers and pull plate off. Those oval holes on plate are barely being held. I got ahead of problem on my cars by switching in some stainless screws.

Brake Pads: RAYBESTOS Element3 vs AKEBONO ProACT?

I put Akebono Euro Ceramic pads on my BMW X1, and love the modulation instead of the OEM brake jerk. It also calmed down the high wear and traction control jerk of the rear brakes and tires. I have a Toyota Innova in another country that I'd put Akebono on to get rid of that OEM brake jerk.

Relevance of changing the oil filter every OCI

At approx 8 years and 35k miles, I took off mann filter off my BMW X1 that ran 17k miles, and discovered that most oil runs back down into sump. The filter was clean enough, so I'll go 20k filter, and 10k oil. I needed to know that since car needs 5.5 quarts with filter, and 5 quarts if you...

    Discount Tire FAILURE.

I checked my BMW X1 after going to one of those wheel rental places, and I could barely loosen the rears and not even the fronts. Discount wouldn't put on my lowered profile Michelins. BMW specs of 88 ft #'s are barely tight, and I can feel that on my wrench since I'm weak. I watched the dumbest...
