Had to buy another car #11. Can you blame me?

My wife's to be's mom had a red '65 Rambler wagon. It was a nice and reliable car.

    Recommend a travel stop.

We had relatives in Colorado and later lived there. We traveled all over the west, but it was mostly long ago. Later travel was more limited out there, but while summer is when most families with school age kids travel, the popular sites are so crowded in summer. Spring and especially fall are...

    Airforce 1 1958-1998

I remember the movie that was dark and sobering.

    Airforce 1 1958-1998

I recall that a number of airlines have had maintenance performed in SE Asia overseen by a few US A+P fellas with inspection authorization. Also, l flew a number of times on KC-135 A/C in about 1972-3. Those pre-fanjet planes had little spare power. I had occasion to chat with a boom operator on...

How many baby boomers on here?

I'm a retired boomer, but the post reads as a joke to me.

    Cranberry Banana Bread

Not bad. My neighboring state of Wisconsin always has had extensive cranberry bogs and is probably yet the largest producer.

    Whats your favorite rifle?

For me it's the Winchester 63 .22 auto that was my dad's first firearm in the 1930's.

EV fire fighting tech ... interesting product

It seems that until industry gets to some better way to deal with this, the cars need to be outside and some distance from anything.

Who remembers Herter's From the Old days?

In the 1960s I visited the Waseca store a few times. At that time they were the only store. I also liked Gopher and bought from them as well. Many/most of businesses from those days are now gone.

    Thoughts on tankless water heaters

We decided to replace our 42 year old traditional water heater and considered tankless, but our utility that we use as insurance for a replacement program of failed appliances, wouldn't include tankless as they said too many failures.

Lufthansa CEO working as a flight attendent

I used to fly quite a bit-military and commercial-, but years ago-only once post 9-11 and I'm done now.. I fairly often would be bringing a cased long gun and no issues at the airports and as I handed it to the pilot or co and they would put it it their coat locker. Yes, it was a different time...

For an engine flush would you choose Liqui Moly or Lubegard engine flushes?

I did that with my dirty Falcon and future wife's Comet in the 60's-both done twice with no apparent harm done and it certainly did work with idling only for 10-15 minutes.

Is there such a thing as an unreliable U.S. new car today?

My wife has summer driven her 350Z to only 75k miles but the only problem was the crank sensor a few years ago. It was an easy R+R.

2023 Hyundai Kona N-Line 1.6L Turbo 0W-20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 8157 km OCI (10,260 km Odometer)

Unless internal engine clearances are different from industry standards, it's usually a cafe situation for a touch better gas mileage. I remember years ago looking at inboard boat engines as they were marketed as 'much stronger, ect' than the same engines in the cars=total bs. They may have had...

    Tesla Q2 Deliveries crushes estimates

Reading all this reminds me part of the reason that we mostly got out of the market after we had exceeded 'what we needed'. It was never a focus to me, but after 40+ years, we were able to be done. Of course, good pensions, supplementals and claiming SS late helped greatly. It was a different...

    Modern cars and drive-in movies

Back in the 1960s I used to take dates to drive ins quite a bit. Usually in my dads '67 Wildcat or my'65 GP. Most of those outdoor theaters are gone now, but a few remain. If were to go again with my wife of over 50 years, it would only seem right to take my '66 Electra or '66 Wildcat. Funny...

    Old Schwinn with large frame

My wife and I have a couple of Schwinn Suburbans bought new in 1975 and 1976. They were both Chicago built. I didn't know that South Carolina was an interim spot before overseas.
