FCA Jeep/Ram changed Oil spec on Ecodiesel

Does this include the North American version of this engine ie VM Motori L630 3.0L or only the European VM Motori A630 3.0L version as stated by the OP?

New Mobil 1 Low Ash Oil??? 0w30 ESP

Mobil 1 0-30 esp may be fine for the Benz but it does not meet the required spec for the Ram ecodiesel. ie HTHS 3.5 minimum as required by Chrysler ms-11106. The 0w-30 Mobil 1 esp HTHS value is only 2.9.

New Mobil 1 Low Ash Oil??? 0w30 ESP

I would stick with the recommended 5w-30 Mobil 1 ESP simply because it has a sulfated ash value of 0.6% (vs. 0.8% in the 0w-30 ESP). This would theoretically allow for a longer catalyst life.

How much Zinc in an ACEA C3 diesel engine oil??

I'm more inclined to beleive MolaKule than just about anybody but isn't 1% equivalent to 10,000ppm? Just sayin. Originally Posted By: MolaKule Quote: The two key numbers are total Zinc in ppm AND the ZnDDP (I got one D wrong in the last post) EP additive % of the total figure. Not sure what...

    Two cycle ester oil question

Hey thanks for the replies guys.Still not sure about the cleaning abilities of esters though. Here in Canada, ethanol is a sure thing in the gasoline.Hey Zedhed, thanks for making me laugh. We here at BITOG always take our lubrication perceived needs to extremes. My (much desired)Stihl ms-361...

    Two cycle ester oil question

I have a Stihl ms361 chainsaw that I use periodically and I am concerned about varnish deposits building up in the carb. during downtime.I am currently using Motul 800 2T grand prix double ester roadracing oil at 50:1 and am hoping that the esters in the oil will dissolve any varnish that may...

Do many motorcycle oils really meet Harley specs?

A neighbour of mine managed to pick up a 1986 RD with just 158km (ie less than 100 miles) a few weeks ago. Rubber is shot but the motor isn't even broken in yet.

Do many motorcycle oils really meet Harley specs?

I would feel a lot more confident with Rotella in a HD than with "genuine" HD oil.I think PT1 is right on the money.

    Black Moly Goo

What makes you think that this "GOO" is a moly paste? Perhaps you are thinking of molybdenum disulphide which can be a "black moly paste" like compound. The moly in Motul would be organometallic. My guess is the crud that you see is coming from the clutch friction plates.

    1st ride today

WOW, an 81 GS1100ex. I had the same bike for about ten years. I had about 90,000 km on her when I sold it. I used mostly Castrol GTX auto oil in it because I didn't know any better (BITOG wasn't invented yet) :)I even made a few trips up near your neck of the woods, near Sturgeon Falls actually.

    Break-in Oil Change Questions

You did well.First oil change on my Suzuki gsx-r1000 was at 41km (about 25 miles). The oil from the 3.3L sump came out looking like silver paint with a good dose of linseed oil as well as some non magnetic particles about the size of grains of salt. This engine has an aluminum block with forged...

    GC Darkening Quickly

I may be wrong but that green colour in GC sure looks a lot like fluorescene,an organic dye.May be for marketing (every body here sure it including me) or possibly for leak detection.Perhaps if someone has a "black light" still kicking around from Holloween they might try and irradiate a few mls...

Any sportbike guys around here ?

Hi guys, first post here. I've been lurking for awhile and just love this site so time to register and chime in. I've used Amsoil 10w-40 for the past season in my Suzuki gsx-r1000 with no complaints. Shifting seemed to be consistant for the whole season but after reading posts @ BITOG I thought...
