Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

I wanted to get a sense of varnish with the boroscope. it used to burn oil. HPL EC and another brand of stiction cleaner seems to have corrected that last year though.

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

After tightening the 2 loose front bolts on the VLOM, the oil pressure is back to 37ish PSI. I only tightened the two in front that were accessible, anf it helped a lot. Plan to pull the intake manifold and check the rest of the bolts on the VLOM. Replace the seals. Definitely check the two...

Humanoid Robots Coming to BMW USA Factory

Humanoid used to be called Anendroids. Guess google took that name. They are HR robots. Used to make sure people are working :D

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

Update, Watched a few YouTube videos about AFM cyl deactivation. At the advice of a youtuber, I checked the VLOM manifold bolts to see if they were loose. The front two are easily accessible. Sure enough, they were very loose. I could tighten them 2 turns with my hand. I tightened the two I...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

Tried the nose-down overfill method to check pickup tube O-ring. 2.5 quarts over filled. No change in pressure. Incline in my driveway is pretty steep. Tried nose up, and nose down a few times. No change either way. Gonna be traveling this weekend, so I drained the oil, put in M1 0w40 FS Euro...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

Put the PF48 on. Drove to town and back. Lowest pressure ive seen so far. Edit: This could simply be the new Oil Sending Unit. Perhaps I didn't get all the oil out of the connector, from the old OSU that leaked oil into the electrical side, engine oil temps may have been warmer than previous...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

Yea still about the same. Engine is smooth, no tics, no taps, no unusual noise of any kind. (I even turned hy hearing aids up all the way to listen 🤣) not even on cold start up. This may not be a problem per se' other than its getting long in the tooth. Will change the oil filter with AC...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

New AC Delco OSU installed, clean oil screen. Hot idle shows 26-27 ish. Took a hot minute to clean the oil out of the connector. May need to replace the connector. On another note. Here is a pic from down the oil fill neck. Couldn't quite get the inspection camera to go where I wanted it to.

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

I see your point. I didn't state it clearly. No changes to alternator charging system. I put the external charger on all my vehicles every few months. The point I intended to make was: Usually full SoC in couple hours when on the bench charger. This past charge on the suburban, took...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

Following advice, despite being hard headed., I pilled the OSU and screen. Screen is clean and clear. OSU, on the other hand had oil on the terminal side. Headed to Autoparts store chain to try and get a replacement. Hoping for OEM, but will have to take what I get. will report back after its...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

I have not rulled it out. Just hoping to find a les expensive repair if one is available. There are posts on a few forums that mention, if oil pressure is low at start up when cold, but returns to somewhat normal at operating temp, it is likely the pickup tube O-ring. Not sure if this is...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

Today, I took the Burb to run errands. Drove to nearby town ~17 hwy miles, dash temp showed 37°. When I got got in the city, first stop light, oil pressure was around 26ish again. Current oil is still amber and has maybe 150 miles on it. (Edit) so the historical "normal" oil pressure I was used...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

Just wanted to clarify. I have a bench charger that I put my batteries on every few months. Normally takes maybe 2 hours to bring them to full soc. Recently, it took several hours in this case. When a car is started, it pulls a lot of amps. If the car doesn't run long enough to replenish the...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

Yea, initially yhe change was for the 2-stage oil pumps. Mine does not have that. It increased the bypass from 16 to 22 psi. According to Frams website, 22 psi is now acceptable tor this engine.

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

The only larger filter I am awaee of, is for the 2015 and up GM 5.3l. It's a little longer maybe 3/4". However it has a 22psi bypass rating instead of the 16psi for th 13 model year. Frams website now shows that the 22psi range is suitable for the 2013 suburban

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

After reviewing the previous thread from 2022, the valve cover did not solve the oil consumption. I just neglected to update. It helped a little. HPL EC reduced it I think by more than half. After HPL was short OCI's and (an Over the Counter stiction eliminator additive). After all that, 3-3.5k...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

I have read, no facts, just Internet lore, but symptoms of that O-ring going bad was lower cold start up pressures when oil cold, but improved as the oil reached operating temps. Not sure tho. It was in early 2022 that HPL EC went in. Here the post with a pic of valve covers at the time. I was...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

🤣 so true. There is a release/relief in the drain pan that relieves the flow from the VOLM. Not exactly sure when it opens or at what pressure, but this vehicle has the shield installed (TSB for consumption) That's why I thought, and still wonder, if there is varnish/gum (coking) somewhere in...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

No more HPL, sadly. The filter has been out of the canister for over a week. Enough time to, "drip dry" (for lack of a better term) but I agree, looks like it was in there much longer. So, moving forward. Car will be driven a bit more as I will take it to work a few days a week. Now the...

Oil change resolved hot idle lower oil pressure., why?

Here is the oil filter. Used side cutter and snips to "hack" it open The pleats were even/parallel. I did spread them apart just to have a better look deep between the pleats. Again, oil and filter had less than 1,000 miles on them Oil pressure was observed from dash gauge. Engine temps were...
