How accurate are home prices on Zillow.com ?

They're horribly inaccurate. I've checked their estimates and compare to HCAD(Harris County Appraisal District). Zillow is just all over the place.

Realistic Life Expectancy of a car?

Yesterday, my CEL went on in the middle of the high way. I immediately got off and went to the closest auto part store (AAP). Lucky it was just a simple gas cap problem, but that got me thinking: What is a realistic life expectancy of my car? I do every maintenance as recommended on the manual...

Good, Reasonably priced Jack & Jack stand.

Instead of borrowing them from my friend that lives 10miles away. I've decided to buy my own set before the end of this year. So how's the duralast/HF/ACDelco jacks & jack stands? IIRC, there's a pair of 3tons jack stands on sale in HF for $13 on labor day. Is it too good to be true? Or, even...

2000 Camry 5S-FE, extended OCI, and sludge?

I drive the same car with only ~134k miles on it. Though, 15k miles OCI seems a bit too much. I used to just do 3-4k OCI for Dino, ~5k for maxlife blend, and 7-8k for synthetic oil. Now I only drive ~6k miles/yr. So I just use the cheapest synthetic oil and change my oil once a year. Also...

    Going to buy a $5k Car......questions.....

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned miata. Thought, I strongly recommend you NOT to get a $5000 VW unless you're a skilled vw mechanic. You will mostly likely spend another $3-5k on the car during her 2 years of owning that car.

    oil filter life?

I basically have the same car as yours. I'll use a Purolator PureOne filter for 2 oil changes and change my oil every 3000miles with the cheapest dino oil I could find. I'm pretty sure either Purolator filters (classic or pureone) can easily last 6000 miles.

Who goes overboard with car's maintenance records

I don't think I go overboard with my car's record and I know I spent way too much on maintenance.

    9 year old Wipers?

On the flip side of things, her car lasted ~9years and still running. I know most of us freak out about every leak or rattling noise coming from our cars, but we also know people (like my mom) that drives 250+k miles cars with only jiffy lube fluid changes.

    Should I change it?

Change it. Oil is relatively cheap anyway.

The lazy person's cigarette lighter Jiffy Lube!!

To be honest, it only takes 15 mins to do an oil change on my car without jack/ramp.

    Age vs Mileage.
