I basically have the same car as yours. I'll use a Purolator PureOne filter for 2 oil changes and change my oil every 3000miles with the cheapest dino oil I could find. I'm pretty sure either Purolator filters (classic or pureone) can easily last 6000 miles.

I don't think I go overboard with my car's record and I know I spent way too much on maintenance.

On the flip side of things, her car lasted ~9years and still running. I know most of us freak out about every leak or rattling noise coming from our cars, but we also know people (like my mom) that drives 250+k miles cars with only jiffy lube fluid changes.

Change it. Oil is relatively cheap anyway.
