Will Mobil 1 get cheaper at WM

It's currently less than $4.50 a quart at the current price. They can, but I doubt they will as they're already the best game in town. Even if they did, it would be pennies, literally. So stock away! The inventory awaits.

    Another M1 noise story

I agree it has to be "shaken" if it's been sitting for a while. I had quart of M1 5w-30 (with cap) in the garage that I used for oil around the house and by the time it got low enough to see the bottom of the quart (about 5 years) I could see that a good deal of something had come out of...

    Another M1 noise story

Interesting thread. I've seen other accounts of noisy engines on M1, but they're spread out and often times a standalone post so I never reply to them. I had a cold morning tick on the BMW M54B25 (hydraulic lifters) that lasted about a minute on 0w-40. I read about M1 TDT and tried it for kicks...

what oil for very-low mileage car?

OP - Since you're in California chances are there's a Wally World close to you. They now sell the 0w-40 in 5qt jugs, $24.76 all day every day. At $4.95 a quart, trying to go for something else will get you the "wrong" oil and cost you more at the same time. Walmart Mobil 1 by cvx5832, on Flickr

Redline ATF for 06` BMW 325i ZF AT Transmission?

6HP26? What is the factory fluid fill for this application? That may yield a better answer. The only history I have with Redline D4 and ZFs is the one in my 325Ci, which loves it. 42k miles since I first switched (and replaced again recently) and the thing shifts like a dream. That transmission...

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

2003 BMW 325Ci with ZF 5HP19, 90k miles Out : Redline D4 ATF with ~37k miles. Fluid came out red, much like when it came in. In : Redline D4 ATF, ~6.5 quarts. New filter and cleaned out the pan magnets. It feels smoother, but that could all be in my head.
