Hey guys,
Doing the annual oil change in my '54 Packard, just returned to find WalMart is out of my usual brew Rotella T 15w-40 (and online too). Acceptable substitutes and why?
Thanks!
My '54 Packard (359 straight 8, never opened) has developed a lifter tick only when warm, I was told that switching to Mobil 1 will/might resolve this.
Is there anything in M1 that would support that statement?
Is syn OK in a 60 year old engine?
I'm using Rotella T 15-40, but have run GTX...

What say ye (and why) for my summer baby, driven short distances (although revved high). High lift cams, headers, otherwise engine stock and unopened. Been running Castrol GTX 20/50...they like 20w/50, so I'd like to stay with that weight.
Ok, I know this is extreme...but, which is better at lifting road dust, etc., btw'n washes, without scratching? I've been using the California car Duster, but recently heard about the benefits of using Micro for this purpose. Thoughts>?
Hey guys,
How long can a new, in the box (PureOne) oil filter be safely kept before use, before the element starts to deteriorate? Is there a recommended 'Shelf life'? I'd like to stock up and use as needed, but don't want to risk them somehow drying out/losing efficiency.
Hi Guys,
I have a '54 Packard, 85,000 miles, never torn down. I've taken the drain pan down and removed 50 years of non det crud, yet I find the oil gets BLACK after a very short time. Lately, one of the hydraulic lifters is clacking after warm up. Packard spec'd straight 30, I've tried...
Hi all!
Glad to be here, hope you can help. I've just bought a '11 Ford Fiesta 5 speed, for short around town trips. 5w-20 recommendations? I wanted a full syn, but I have to admit to being a total dodo when it comes to today's high tech oils, so if you could also tell me why you're...
