    Consensus on battery powered OPE

    Ryobi 40V Brushless AWD 21" Up to 70 min runtime with 2 40V 6 Ah batteries So that works out to 40V X 12 Ah = 480 Wh (480 Wh / 70 min) X 60 min = 411 watts/hr 411 Wh = 0.55 HP Am I calculating this properly as a comparison to gas HP?

    Consensus on battery powered OPE

I have a 40V Ryobi brushless string trimmer that works awesome and has the power to knock down 2 foot tall weeds. For small 2 stroke OPE it is nice to not have fumes in your face anymore. When I was mower shopping last year I went gas. I had a hard time comparing actual power output between gas...

how to lower hydrocarbons for emissions test ?

50/50 E85 and regular. Burn it off and refill with regular after passing. Even if not a flex fuel vehicle, I wouldn't expect a single half tank full of E85 to cause an issue. This helped my truck along until it was old enough to no longer need smog testing.

    strut tower rust

At that point it may be time to move on, safety-wise. Perhaps an undercoating regimen might help prevent such extreme damage going forward with the next vehicle.

    strut tower rust

If you're up for it, spend the money on a decent entry level 240V MIG welder and an angle grinder. You can reinforce the strut tower with plate steel, then coat everything with paint or even rubberized undercoating. You can practice your welding skills on this area as it is completely covered...

    2013 Impala, 3.6L V6

2013 3.6 6T70 owner here. The LFX had the timing chain issues sorted out as was already mentioned. Mine is closing in on 140k and has been a reliable vehicle with no issues other than an HVAC actuator going out. Common issue for this vehicle and about a $20 and 15 minute fix. I recommend the LTZ...

Lazy man’s way of starting fires in stove or fireplace

Propane torch to the kindling here. I've done store bought starters and made my own from candle wax and egg cartons, but the propane is the simplest and most effective starter.

    Good mower for mulching leaves

I narrowed it down to a Super Recycler or a Cub Cadet SC500K. I liked the Kohler engine that was suggested earlier in the thread, and the price was almost $200 less, so I went for the Cub Cadet. None of the local dealers had them in stock, so I ended up getting one via Home Depot ship to store...

    Good mower for mulching leaves

I'm looking to see what options I have to replace a Troy Bilt TB110 (140cc) push mower. The mower has done well for me over the past decade but the deck is starting to rust through. I have about 10000 square feet of grass to cut. I cut the grass on the highest setting and use the mulcher and bag...

    Bosch HEPA - 1 year - 12,000 miles

Running a Bosch HEPA filter in my Impala and wife's RAV4. I installed them after we started getting hit with wildfire smoke. I haven't noticed a major airflow reduction. I have a portable air quality tester and saw about a 90% reduction in fine particles (PM2.5). The old filter was about a 30%...

    GMC 1500 alternator problem

The new alternator is in and working. I recharged the completely flat old battery (2 yrs old Everstart Plus from Walmart) and tested with my Ancel tester: Old battery: Resistance 3.15 mOhm, est. 946 CCA New battery: Resistance 3.27 mOhm, est. 915 CCA Should I eat the $20 core fee and keep the...

    GMC 1500 alternator problem

I have continuity between the output post and case with the alternator disconnected and removed. I switched the leads and still had continuity. I tested a different alternator and only had continuity in one direction but not if I switched the leads. The local auto parts place wanted almost $200...

    GMC 1500 alternator problem

I will test that and report back. I just went back out and connected the battery again briefly. This alternator has 1 output stud with a wire connecting it to the positive battery terminal, and 1 small wire (16 ga?) that clips on, which I imagine is just for the charging monitor circuit. With...

    GMC 1500 alternator problem

My 1995 GMC K1500 seems to have a serious issue with the alternator. I started it up this morning and it seemed to be running rough. I pulled out my my driveway and noticed I needed to keep on the gas to keep from stalling. It has done this in the past when sitting a few days but usually clears...

Need respirator mask to spray fluid film / woolwax

I use 3M 60923 cartridges. 60921 would probably work fine as well for that purpose. When used for spray painting and solvent work I have zero odor breakthrough. They are P100 with the charcoal filter.

Best way to keep a truck from rusting

I use Woolwax on my vehicles. My 95 GMC was purchased with typical New England rust but I have coated the frame yearly without issue. I check it in the Spring and touch up any spots where the coating washed off. Another thing I'd recommend is going after rock chips immediately. A quick sanding...

    2017 GM 3.6

I believe the timing chain stretch was last an issue with the 3.6 LLT (predecessor of the LFX). The LFX came out in 2012 with the timing chain issues corrected. I haven't heard of it being an issue with the High Feature engines since the LLT.

    Air conditioner corrosion

I have a big 15,000 BTU window AC I install about this time each year. I noticed that the copper tubing at the bottom inch of the condensor is green and the (aluminum?) fin block has some white dust like powder coming off it. The unit is designed so that the condensor is sitting in the...

    ABS scan tool

Would Bluedriver be useful for that? I bought one to read all the GM specific module codes on my Impala. My geneneric OBD scan tools would just show P0000 instead of the GM specific code. It has shown the wheel sensor (ABS) fault codes when a sensor has failed and set off the ABS/traction lights.

Oil as undercoating to slow down rust

If you can get Fluid Film or Woolwax in France I would go for that. My next choice would be the chainsaw oil because that usually has a tackifier which will help it stick. I bought a 5 gallon pail of the black dyed Woolwax and can say the stuff goes on thick and sticks well even after a full...
