Lube choices for 2014 Accord 3.5 liter J35Y1

Found some new lubes at Walmart today. I had not seen these at our Walmart before. Car calls for 0w20 API SN per my owner's manual. I would prefer all of the Euro certifications which I think I can get with this Pennzoil. I am tempted to run the PZoil 5w30 L. I will follow the maintenance...

No, the police the BITOG forum people are out monitoring everyone's posts.

    Overthinking it all.

Does this board in general way overthink oil changes? This guy has a 300,000 mile Windstar. Here is his oil change video and here is his uoa. He has 300,000 miles ostensibly on 5000 mile changes and regular 5w30 oil. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIG_BdsffcU...

Best looking oil bottles in last 25 yrs.

I still like the old Quaker State round bottles from the late 80's early 90's.

    SuperTech Manufacturer

Around here in Mississippi. Every bottle of Supertech I have seen is made by Warren Petroleum.

    Fred's Pharmacy Oil

I'm not a neophyte. This stuff has the API SN rating printed on the bottle. It's not "censored". It is API certified oil in a bottle that clearly has WPP printed on the bottom of it. Warren makes many fine products including Magtech, Supertech etc. I was just looking for PDS.

    Fred's Pharmacy Oil

Anyone got any idea where I can get a PDS of Fred's Pharmacy Oil? It's got the API SN logo on the bottle. Bottom of the bottle is stamped WPP. I'm assuming it's a Warren Product but I could not find PDS on their website. Couldn't find one on google either.

257,000 mi of Valvoline conventional 5k OCI (pics)

Merkava would tell you to run 40w70 synthetic at 1000 mile oci because the varnish is going to kill your engine any second. To me it just shows that internal combustion engines can run fine on conventional oil and were never meant to stay clean enough on the inside or outside to eat off of.

    Pushing PYB to 10000 miles.

Let me guess Merkava. You recommend Ultra 40w70 at a 1000 mile oci?

    Pushing PYB to 10000 miles.

That sounds reasonable. Perhaps a sample at 5k then?

    Pushing PYB to 10000 miles.

Also, Toyota back specced the 5vzfe to 5w20 a couple of years ago.

    Pushing PYB to 10000 miles.

The goal is not to save money, or drive the car for another 200,000 miles. The goal is to see if PYB 5w20 SN can be pushed to 10k in this car without catastrophic results. I asked the question in an older post and half this board said you'd never know without trying it an then doing a UOA. So I...

    Pushing PYB to 10000 miles.

If I did that the car would have 414k on it. I doubt anything but the engine and rear end would be alive at that point.

    Pushing PYB to 10000 miles.

2000 4runner. 214k on original 5vzfe and 4speed auto tranny. 80% long highway miles. Generally 1/2 quart make up oil at 5k miles.

    Pushing PYB to 10000 miles.

A while ago I asked how far can you push PYB. I've decided to try it in my oldest car. Today I did an OCI with 5w20 PYB in a 4runner with the 5vzfe. I'm planning on changing again at 10k miles. Filter is a Fram TG3614. Will do a UOA with TBN at 10k. Based on dnewton3 and his results with WPP...

How far can you push PYB?

Merkava, why are you so possessed with avoiding all varnish? We are talking about a lube for an internal combustion engine. Some "varnish" is to be expected. If you desire factory clean conditions in your engine I suggest you never start your car.

How far can you push PYB?

PQIA says PYB 5w20 has a 9.46 TBN. How far can this oil be pushed in a non-turbo application?

    Advantages of straight weight oil

I could see a straight weight oil being best in an application where an engine was run continuously for long periods of time and not shut down and restarted very often at all. Perhaps a generator of some sort?
