I noticed the same. But it stabilized after a few days. My previous fill was with German Castrol. This is on a Jeep XJ Cherokee with the 4.0L. So far no decrease or increase in MPGs. I am about to send for the oil for analysis. I'm in the 4800-4900 mile range right now.

I just replaced the OEM fluid on my S2000 with 20k and replaced it with Amsoil MTF. It's been smooth shifting no complaints so far.

I got a buell XB9R..using 20w-50w seems appropriate IMO. Since the engine is air cooled. But on the Watercooled Rotax engine? not sure on that. Maybe the HD Syn3 oil that comes with the bikes is one of the reasons. Why the bike get such a horrible MPG. Hopefully in the next few months I would...
