Single weight 30 vs. multigrade 5-30 for mower

Is this concern valid if the alternative is a synthetic 10w-30? Originally Posted By: Bluestream Straight 30 has no VIIs so will stand up better in those hot running engines

Single weight 30 vs. multigrade 5-30 for mower

No mowing but lots of plowing (4 wheel yard tractor) in winter.

Single weight 30 vs. multigrade 5-30 for mower

My mower specifies 30 weight for summer, 5-30 in winter. Any problem or disadvantage in using 5-30 year round since it is often easier to find and cheaper to buy?

    ATF additives?

I have a 2006 Mazda5 AT with 86,000 miles, a model subject to some AT problems. Lately it has been slipping a little on occasion. Is it worth considering any of the available additives, like Xado, which claim to extend the life of an AT, or are they all really snake oil?

    Alignment or ????

Thanks to all for the input, esp. Mechtech2. Upon closer examination of all suspension components I found one strut slightly higher in the steering knuckle, corrected that, and the problem is 90% gone. I may still get an alignment, but will wait a while and see if there is further settling in.

    Alignment or ????

I recently installed new struts in my Mazdaspeed3 (no other changes), and since then I've noticed a few differences in handling. The steering seems "heavier" - requires a little more effort - and it seems to tramline more, sometimes pulling left, sometimes right. I'm guessing the front upper...

Any tips on where to rent or buy, and if the latter what brands? Don't really want to do that for one use, but not sure what options I'll have...

    Best equipment for wheel balancing?

I've had some problems in the past with wheel balancing at a local garage. I have a new set of tires I'm about to have mounted and balanced, and wondered what advice I could get about what specific technique or equipment to look for when I call around to other tire shops. Is there really any...

    Mixing PP grades?

Thanks, Johnny and others. You've convinced me to stick to my regular PP oil which I like a lot.

    Mixing PP grades?

I usually run the specified 5w30 PP in my Mazdaspeed3, but am thinking about using the Euro 5w40 in the summer (when I also auto-x). Rather than 100% heavier, I was thinking of a 50/50 mix. Any downside to mixing different oils from the same company?

    Mixing synthetic, regular MT fluid?

While the MT90/MTL mix has some appeal, MTL doesn't meet the weight spec for Mazda, and I'm more tempted to go with a non-synth 75w-90 for the mix (partly because I'm going to have my Mazda dealer do the change).

    Redline MT90 is GL4, not GL5

    Mixing synthetic, regular MT fluid?

I am considering mixing Redline MT90 with standard MT GL4 fluid in my Mazdaspeed3. While the synthetic should help reduce wear and increase hot performance, there have been some reports of very poor cold weather performance as well as some concern for friction modifiers for the LSD. The mix...
