I have an 09 Matrix. We're not related no, I had to look twice when I was one here yesterday I looked at the forum at was thinking to myself heck I didn't just post that did I? LoL just a coincedence.....
Yes, I agree, maybe the guy in the driving seat had worn some rubber off his shoes in between dyno runs and was able to press the pedal a bit more.....LoL
You might as well try it and see if it's any quieter. It stands to reason that the quietist oil is the best oil right?
LoL, just kidding. I don't have a clue, but I have heard that motorcraft is good oil for the money....
Yeah good question. I concur with the theory that it's the high cost dragging over. Maybe along with some more record profit making tactics from the oil companies stalling a price drop to line their pockets some more.
Penzoil High Milage blend 5w30 and yellow bottle $12 a jug. Mobil1 0w30 jug was $24 I think. Prices today beat the pants off Advance......Shame they don't carry cabin air filters also.
My 09 Matrix is Dual VVTi and as someone mentioned here and over on Toyotanation the VVT can be/is affected by the oil (I think was related to oil pressure). Mine calls for 5 or 0w20, my wifes CRV calls for 5w30. For me I tend to mix and match oils depending on what's available in my cupboard...
Yeah a quart every 1000 miles is OTT - you might as well dump a quart in your gas tank when you fill up at that rate (not). For most factory recommended OCI wouldn't that make them dangerously low imagine if you never checked the dipstick and let it run for the whole 5k?
If I'd have thought about it, I will ask about purchasing some at my dealer next time I do my oil change. 0w20 is scarce on the shelves and expensive. I'll chuckle to myself if It turns out to be cheaper than wally mart, Still got about 3500 miles to go before the next change though. currently...
I was just reading over on tundrasolutions and the general concensus about the Toyota dealer full synthetic 0w20 is that it is Mobil. they use it for the prius and it is in a red bottle. I need to find out how much it is at my local dealer.
If they had 0w20 in a jug on sale then I'd go for it or perhaps a whole case, but from the vast majority of opinions here including Toyota is gonna be pennzoil 5w20 or whatever they throw in her at the stealership when she goes in for the first OC.
So will LC20 or AutoRX improve gas milage and the engines life expectancy? Also where do most of you buy it? I did a search and gather that it's mail order only. Then comes the questions, do you add 4oz to each new oil change, every 5k or just do it once?
Thanks for the replies on the oil, have...
Wow so there's 2 of ya both adding 4oz ish of auto rx? Now you've got me wondering why do you add a product like that to a new engine?
Well thanks for the replies, I will probably end up using GTX or Penzoil as they seem easy to find.
I gather this new engine (2zr-fe) has an oil filter...
Hi, I'm driving a brand new '09 1.8l Toyota Matrix with about
1800m on the clock still on my factory fill. I have one first free oil change available from the dealer, which I will take it in soon for the first oil change (and get a couple of rattles looked at). I don't know if it identifies the...
