    00 Honda ATF 127,000 miles

Last service was the dealer's "drain & flush" but don't know if it was full capacity. Thanks for the other advice. I was considering Amsoil synth ATF and do a few drain and fills for the first while to get out the old residue. Any comments on this DIY job vs. a full capacity change out at a...

    00 Honda ATF 127,000 miles

Thanks Critic for the replies. Yes, it was a very light brown, not heavy. I did a white card blotter and there is minor staining. Already checked into the belt, w/p and plugs. They need replacement and budgeted for that already.

    00 Honda ATF 127,000 miles

The last change was about 30,000 miles ago. I don't own it but checking it out. I agree, 127k on the original is amazing. I noticed no tow hitch on it. It looks like the owners generally stuck with dealership service recommendations.

    00 Honda ATF 127,000 miles

I'm not a transmission fluid analysis expert. These are for an Odyssey, well known for flaky transmissions. About 30,000 miles service on Honda ATF. Obviously it is due for a change, but any comments on the wear metals? METALS (D5185): Milligrams per Kilogram (PPM) Tin 1 Lead 1 Copper 8...

    factory fill / 5W30 / 2125 mi / 07 Toyota Sienna

Ah-ha! I thought that looked more like a 20 wt. Next UOA should more typical of 5W30. Thanks for the confirmation.

    Experience with engine cleaners?

Has anyone tried Seafoam for the intake and top end, and Auto-RX for the bottom end, on a sludgy/varnish engine over 100,000 miles?

    Experience with engine cleaners?

That precisely is the problem. These are engines other people owned and they did not always do so. Some have signs of light varnish under the valve covers, others show traces of sludging/varnish. I have found posting about Auto-Rx as the slow and easy approach for cleaning up the lube channels...

    Experience with engine cleaners?

I want to hear your experiences with internal engine cleaners like those for the intake, valves, rings, etc. Any recommendations? I have some old engines with 120,000 miles and up, and want to give them a good cleaning out.

Key Things For Keeping A Car In The Best Shape?

Focus on fluids and parts that fatigue from fluids! Change coolant more often than recommended and don't believe long-life lasts 5 years or +100k. Every 3 years best. Check hoses and thermostat at same time. Good quality oil and filter always with a UOA once a year minimum to look for...

Pressure vs Flow Regarding Wear Revisited

Here are conclusions from a research paper I got from 1995: 1. Lube temp on the bearing surface varies in proportion with feed oil temp (test engine showed rod bearing temp was 5 to 10C higher than oil temperature) 2. Temperature difference between bearing surface and feed oil is almost...

Forgot to mention that fuel dilution could result from rings seating. Cr wear probably from ring lapping so once seated, should see less FD.

    factory fill / 5W30 / 2125 mi / 07 Toyota Sienna

No lab comments other than stated earlier. I do not know what brand oil the factory uses (maybe a 20 wt?) but the dealer uses a 5W30 with a kV of 10.7 cst at 100C. Next UOA will confirm fuel dilution. I wonder if this was caused at first start and tuning of the system since it could have been...
