Finally fixed my GCV160 max throttle issue

I have had a Honda HRS216PDA for 3 or 4 years now. It is powered by the GCV160. It has been a decent mower but always underwhelming when it came to the quality of cut. I attributed it to the entry level model and features. It just didn't seem to lift the grass very well and left straggler grass...

    How much rent to charge?

We charge by the square foot based on amenities and location. Duplexes and small houses will go for upwards of $1 per square around here. I won't rent something out for less than $0.80 per square.

Chicken livers, gizzards and hearts - do you eat them?

I can eat my own weight in livers but just don't care for gizzards and hearts. However, I am picky about the liver that I eat. I don't like those big cluster type pieces of liver. I like smaller pieces about the size of a pecan still in the shell, or around the size of my thumb. I guess you...

How many TV channels do you have? How many do you watch?

We use a $40 RCA antenna mounted probably 18 feet off the ground for OTA DTV. We get a total of 28 channels (9 main channels with 19 sub channels). I like to watch just a hand full of channels, Grit TV, MeTV and PBS. We used to pay $100+ per month for Comcast cable and due to repeated price...

Flapper valve in GM truck exhaust !?

1- 2" long 1/4" bolt 2- 1" diameter 1/4" washers 1- 1/4" lock nut Turn valve 90 degrees. Stick bolt with washers on each end into gap of valve. Thread lock not on. Tighten. Voila - it is now open. Mine sounded like a helicopter in 4 cylinder mode and lost a noticeable amount of low end...

    Solved ATV overheating issues

Yes, I know there is an ATV section but I figured the cooling system section was more appropriate. My 2012 Arctic Cat 450 had been running warmer than I thought I remembered it running and the fan was cycling a lot during low speed riding and idling. I had tried to flush it with a garden hose...

Purchased new Stihl weed wacker today

I bought a FS56RC-E last summer. It has been great until this year when it developed a random fuel leak. Internet search revealed a TSB type of thing from Stihl. I returned it to the dealer where I bought it and they fixed it under warranty. I too bought the 2 quarts of premixed fuel to double...

    6L80 pan with drain plug

Does anyone know of an OEM or aftermarket pan with drain plug? I don't want a fancy aluminum 'cooling' or extra capacity pan. I am just looking for a Dorman type pan with a plug. I have found a couple but the plug is on the high side of the pan leaving probably 2+ quarts still in the pan. I am...

Maxlife vs Dex 6 for Silverado transfer case

I plan on changing the transfer case fluid on my 2014 Silverado this weekend. Spec is 2 quarts of Dex 6. I have a few gallons of Maxlife. Should I just spend the $10 and grab 2 quarts of SuperTech Dex 6 or possibly Valvoline Dex 6 or just pump 2 quarts of Maxlife in there? Thanks.

    2014 Silverado differential change

I changed the front and rear differential fluid in my truck today. The truck has 48,000 miles and the rear fluid came out a dark golden brown and it smelled of grapes and diff lube, quite the combination of smells. The magnet in the bottom of the differential housing had more goop/fuzz than I...

Oil for Kawi FH680V on Ferris zero turn

UPDATE: The engine calls for SAE30 or 10w30 SG/SH/SJ. The owner of the mower insisted the mechanic's Amsoil recommendation be followed. I picked up an XG-4967 and 2 quarts of Amsoil AMO. The mechanic had put Amsoil ASF in it as the initial fill. Nothing like a $30.35 oil change for a lawn...

Oil for Kawi FH680V on Ferris zero turn

A family member's 62" Ferris was just repowered with a Kawasaki FH680V. The gentleman that did the repower only sells/uses Amsoil. He put 10w40 small engine in it for break in. $10 per quart isn't happening when I have HDEO options for $5 or less available. I figured I would spring for a Fram...

    Brisket flat on charcoal

I picked up a free (I love having yuppy neighborhoods around me) Weber 22" kettle a month or so ago. It had not been in a loving home so it was in sad shape. However, the lid was perfectly fine so I bought a $4 smoker thermometer at Meijer and drilled a hole in the lid for it - it worked like a...

    Brisket flat on charcoal

I normally use my electric smoker or my traeger to smoke stuff but I decided to try smoking with my 22" Weber kettle over charcoal. It was a huge success. I used Cowboy hardwood briquets. I put 4 pieces of oak on my charcoal snake and it worked great.

Which do you prefer: ZL-1 Camaro or GS Corvette ?

Obligatory BITOG answer of save the money, fund your 401k, pay your house off, donate to charity, etc etc etc. Personally, I would buy the Camaro only because I have a 4 year old and need to take my wife and child if we go cruising to get ice cream or for a river drive. The Corvette would leave...
