    2023 Jetta?

My first VW here, great highway cruiser, mpg indicated 48.3 is my best so far in 6k miles. Brakes, Aisin 8AT sometimes a little touchy around town but during stop and go traffic I can shift manually. Seats are like an old school Honda, firm and supportive yet unobtrusive. I got oil changed at 5k...

2021 Volkswagen Jetta premature brake wear

I got the letter from VW in the mail just today. It is quite timely as I am having some grinding backing out of the garage from the rear right especially if it rained the night before. I only have 2,400 miles but this is a relief to know. I don't know if I should bother having it looked at this...

    Best oil for old K24?

Hey guys, I have over 250k on the Honda, been using dealer synthetic, but the timing chain area has a slow leak as their last inspection pointed out to me. No puddles of oil on the driveway, however. I have read using regular conventional oil would help, or maybe a different viscosity.

    2023 VW Jetta Sport

Hey guys, picked this up a few weeks ago wanted to share. My first VW or Euro car for that matter. Drives buttery smooth and the 1.5 engine picks up speed deceptively fast. I’m breaking her in before I test things like the XDS electronic diff. The 2022 models I looked at had a credit for...

Oil change overdue over 2,000 miles

Hey guys, was looking at a low miles used Civic that was overdue on its oil change, is this even worth considering? I plan to take a look at it and see how it runs, if any weird engine noises or dark exhaust.

    Thoughts on these compact cars..

I am looking for a new daily driver. This is what I am looking at, what do you guys think? Jetta S or Sport- I read good things about the 1.5 engine, seems really quick based on reviews Mazda3 2.5 S- tried and true engine with a 6 speed auto. Nissan Sentra- looks really nice, comfy seats but...

2013 Honda Pilot 54k miles: Clean or replace PCV valve?

I it can be cleaned with brake cleaner, as long as it rattles from what I understand. But if is hard to get at, might as well replace.

    2021 Ford Bronco Sport

Couple of things, this should have been the new Escape IMO. However, since Ford has done a car-like Escape in lieu of offering cars...I get it. I get a slight Honda Element vibe from the rear boxiness and this is pretty interesting. But the real Bronco is what most of us want to see.

Agreeing to a price on a car with the insurance company

Insurance uses companies like CCC to do their evaluations based on the local market. They are not based off KBB, but what they call actual cash value. You can submit any big maintenance receipts to up the valuation as well. I used to be a total loss adjuster. Also, go over the valuation report...

Full size spare? Donut spare? Or tire inflator kit?

I am happy my vehicles carry a donut spare and not an inflator kit from the factory. If you get a blowout that fix a flat kit most newer cars carry will not do you any good.

Teflon windshield wiper blades worth the money?

I’ve had the Trico Teflon Shield blades for a few years now no issues. The factory wipers were crap from jump on my car. But I also garage this car so that will help any wiper blade for longevity and performance.
