Should I switch over to synthetic now?

Exactly right Patman. This engine has yet to show any signs of consumption, keep in mind it only has 1750 miles. Thanks guys- As you can see this car is rarely driven. To your point Molakule- If I wait until 3000 miles before switching to synthetic, that will be a long, long time. Thanks for the...

Should I switch over to synthetic now?

Got a 2001 435hp SS Camaro(all aluminum LS1). Changed the oil at 500 miles to Chevron Supreme, now it has a total of 1750 miles on the engine. Just got a case of Schaeffer 10W30 Blend to go in it but wonder if I should put more miles on before the switch to synthetic? Thanks in advance

    Patman..Bosch p/n for longer '01LS1 filter?

Patman, I just bought a bosch premium oil filter for my SS Camaro LS1. I always run the longer filter, usually K&N. Part number was 3423 for an '01 truck. Do you know if this the correct longer filter? Thanks

Just got my Schaeffer's order from David Solomon........A+!!!

Patman-Yes I will do an oil analysis but I accumulate very few miles on the car per year so I guess it will be quite a while. I have Chevron Supreme dino in right now and I will send a sample off when I change to Schaeffers. Also- I run the K&N long filter for my '01 LS1, I may do a quick flush...

Help me pick an oil.....SS Camaro

Many ASA (which were strictly LS1's) race engine builders bought oil consumption lemon law LS1's from GM, fixed the consumption issue, and put them into ASA race cars. One of the best ASA engine programs is right here in Georgia (Garry Grimes), he said 100% of his lemon law rebuilt LS1's...

Help me pick an oil.....SS Camaro

Thanks Soma07! Patman-She may not see 7000 rpm....at least it hasn't yet anyway. I'd feel a little under-insured with a $1.08 oil in its veins, even though Chevron is good I want to give her the best oil. Changing oil is not a problem either, even at 1.5 inches lower I can get it up on rhino...

2001 Berger SS Camaro. 1300 miles total on engine. 6 speed LS1 with phase II heads/cam package (435hp). This car is garaged and only driven occasionally to shows and cruising. O-Ring in a Dixie Cup III

I worked 12 years with a major valve, crankshaft, o-ring seal supplier to Ford, GM, DiamlerChrysler, Honda, and Toyota. I ran the durability testing department which performed key-life testing to all these mfg's specs. We manufactured our own rubber formulations and stamped our own metal case. I...
