    Oil options for 08 Impreza

Does using the longer bigger filter mean that there is just more filter media to catch dirt and grime? I'm leaning towards trying synthetic next change and then doing maybe a 5000-6000 interval.

    Oil options for 08 Impreza

I've been a lurker on this for several years. I always had an old beater car so I didn't really care what oil I ran in it. I have learned lots of useful info about cars and oil from here. This last November I finally got a 08 Subaru Impreza, it was lightly used with 12k on it. Since I've had it...

    List of good books

I like to read and always end up going to the library and not knowing what books to get. I thought I would ask you guys what are some good books out there? Personally I like to read a variety of different kinds of books. Adventure, horror, fiction, non-fiction, survival, and biographies are...

    Quaker State or Valvoline

At Schucks they have valvoline and Quaker state both on sale right now(dino). I know both are not really recommended oils but if you were going to buy one which one would you go for?

    Subzero and starts fine

Here in Spokane Washington It was -22 last night. About -19 when I got to my car, I have Chevron supreme 10w-40 in there, the old 1.8 sube motor had a little trouble turning over but actually started easier then I expected. I could tell that starting a car when its that cold without sythetic oil...

    subaru Experience

Well if you live where you have to deal with snow you really can't beat the traction of a sube. My family is really into them, I know of at least 5 that we have right now(always changing). If your looking for a legacy go for a 91-94 5spd awd. These are some of the most reliable cars on the road...

First time timing belt/water pump change, Honda Civic ...

Well I don't know about hondas but in my subaru every time I need to take the crank pully off I just grab my 32mm socket 1/2 breaker bar a piece of pipe to fit over the breaker bar Then I just wedge the extra pipe on the breaker bar and put the socket on the crank pully. Then just rest the new...

OIl pressure at zero in Subaru

Don't worry about it Ea-82 engines are known for showing zero oil pressure at idle, as long as it picks up with RPMs. The guages on these cars are known to be not very accurate and usually at idle you will have about 10 psi(if you hooked up a mechanical gauge). Because of the layout of a boxer...

    10w40 oils

I was also wondering what the big deal was about the 10w-40. I own an 84 subie and most of the people who own these cars run 10w-40 in the winter that I've talked to(20-50 in summer). These cars are known for routinely running into the 200K mark with 10w-40 oil. So whats so bad about 10w-40 as...

    Experimental 1991 Caravan

Thanks for all the helpful hints, I don't think I will be doing any autoRX or any other cleaner. Will probably change the oil again here in the next couple weeks if it lasts that long. You see my Mom graduates from nursing school here in less then a month... Then my parents are planning on...

    Experimental 1991 Caravan

People have been saying its gonna blow up for the last two years and it keeps on going The oil pressure is low because I guess when the main bearings get worn out the oil pressure gets lower? I don't really know why I was just told this. Another fun thing that I'm remembering is that the...

My Dad has a 91 dodge grand caravan that he bought brand new and has been the family truckster since then. We have gone on many roadtrips and that thing has been to **** and back. During the winter it takes the whole tribe up to the ski hill every weekend. There has been very little maintnance...

    At what RPM?

I have an 84 subaru wagon that I took from Spokane to Seattle. I cruised at 75 whenever it was flat or downhill at 4200 rpms! Going over the pass I could only go maybe 60. At 4200 rpm it didn't get the greatest gas mileage but it ran fine.

    Down Shifting

I rarely downshift in town to help slow down. Partly because my syncros are gone though. Driving on mountain roads with a long grade I will leave it in 3rd or 4th gear and just use the engines compression to keep my speed consistant. Usually cars infront of me are hitting their brakes every...

    1990 honda accord tranny fluid

So just buy some of that Quaker State stuff drain and fill twice and then drain and fill with the ATF-Z1 the last time? I don't want to put the wrong fluid in my Mom's car so whatever you guys think.
