    NAPA Gold 1515 C&P

On the cutter today is a NAPA Gold 1515. This filter comes off a Mastercraft Prostar boat w/ the 351w engine. I just purchased this boat and went through all the filters and fluids. This filter crosses over to a Motorcraft FL1A and WIX 51515. The oil was unknown. The OCI was unknown. I have...

    WIX 51365 C&P, 5-7k mi

The last filter on my cutter today is a WIX 51365. This filter is so tiny its funny. It is off a 2000 Honda Insight, such a fun little car. This filter was in service for sometime between 5,000 and 7,000 miles. The metal crimp doesn't look very good, but the rest does! I always appreciate a...

    WIX WL10290 C&P, 5k miles

The filter on the cutter today is a WIX WL10290 off a 2017 Chevrolet Spark. The engine is only a 1.4L NA engine, but has a huge filter for the size. I believe they run the same filter on corvettes. This filter was in service for 5k miles. It looks pretty good, other than the leaf spring. The...

    WIX 51358XP C&P

Just got my oil filter cutter today, first C&P with it! Filter is a WIX 51358XP off of a 2018 Kawasaki STX15f. The filter only had about 3 hours on it. I took it off to see if the louvres were nice and open or not, well they were. However, this filter is in a horrible spot and I dented it...

    oil for a marine 351w?

I may be picking up an older Mastercraft boat w/ the 351w engine. It has flat tappet cams, requiring an high amount of ZDDP. I’ve kept a mental note of all the oils available locally that also have high ZDDP. Here’s the list, let me know if you have any other ideas! I’m interested to see what...

    Tow Capacity w/ aftermarket Hitch

This past February, I bought a ‘23 Chevy Blazer w/ the 2.0L and 9T60. I do a bit of towing with a small utility trailer and jetski, so I bought and installed a Curt hitch. The Curt hitch has a rated capacity of 5000 lbs. The blazer, when equipped with the factory tow package has a rated...

To double drain and fill or not?

Recently bought a ‘23 Chevrolet Blazer w/ 9T60. It’s coming up on 30k miles, where I intend on servicing the transmissions. No external filter, just a small internal one. So, I will be doing just a drain and fill. With being low miles, should I do a single drain and fill or a double. I will be...

    ACDelco PF66 C&P

PF66 oil filter off a 2023 Blazer w/ 2.0L. Filter was on for 3,400 miles. Filter looked fine. A flexible nitrile ADBV and the media had no waves or tears. The end caps came off quite easily. This is probably from me using a screwdriver to get the filter media out of the can. Other media tears...

CQ Premium 84502 vs Motorcraft FL500s

Another fantastic video from Whip City Wrencher, for all those who are interested. TL;DR - CQ Premium is higher quality, has better filter media, a thicker can, a thicker media, and has holes vs louvers (for those who have a preference).

    Video - Purolator L14476

Here's an interesting video of a L14476 from Purolator taken apart. I enjoy Crazy Bill's commentary. Looks to be better made, at a lower price, than the PL lines that have been posted in the last two years. It even has a metal crimp, which I like to see, unlike the PL line C&Ps I've linked...

    Valvoline to offer dexosD 0w-20

For all the LM2 and LZ0 owners looking for more oil options: I was looking at dexosD certifications and noticed Valvoline having two licenses, one not being there a few months ago. I contacted Valvoline customer support, who said it is only in bay box at the moment. I followed asking for...

20 HP Briggs V-Twin Intek Issues

Engine is a 20HP Briggs V-Twin Intek. Model #407677. I brought my mower into service a few weeks ago. Changed the oil, oil filter, and air filters. Mowed my yard, ran a little rough. I checked the plugs, one looked perfect, the other one was black as can be. Swapped out the plugs, right...

    Closeout CarQuest Filters

I’ve ordered from RockAuto at least 20 times, but I am always a little hesitant on the closeouts. I am no more! I got 8 beautiful CarQuest Premium filters for $1-2 a piece. They are all PG made filters that I would run in a heart beat.

2023 Blazer - Pick my filter

Last month, I purchased a 2023 Chevrolet Blazer w/ the 2.0L LSY engine. I planned on going with the OEM PF66, but looking at some C&Ps, I think there is better. It's under warranty, but I'm not worried about it, they can't deny me claims for a warranty unless its the filters fault directly...

    NAPA Proformer 21348 C&P

Hang in there with me, this is my first C&P. NAPA Proformer 21348 off of a Briggs & Stratton 21 hp engine. 1 summer, approximately 50 hours run time. Filter look pretty good overall. Glue was a little sloppy, but nothing of concern. Filter media looked very good. I could probably put double or...

    What's your favorite fleet filter?

I've been looking all over at the quality of fleet level filters like Pro-Tec, PurolatorTECH, Pennzoil, Valvoline, Champ, NAPA ProSelect, etc.. Technicians of BITOG, what has been your favorite fleet filter you use on oil changes in the shop?

What interval for GM 9 speed?

I just bought a 2023 Chevy Blazer FWD w/ the 2.0L and 9T60 transmission. Currently, it is at 25k miles. Manual dictates transmission fluid drain and fill at 45k under severe conditions. Should I go with 45k miles, 30k miles, or somewhere in between. I intend on using ACDelco Dexron VI full...

    GM Plastic Drain Plug

Anyone have experience with GM's plastic oil drain plug? Was used in the 2.0T and 2.7T engines, with the 2.7T switching back to a metal pan. Seems like a better design than Ford's and VW. How many times do you think the gasket can be reused, just until a small leak is seen, probably 25 - 50k...
