    GC gold vs Mobil 1 0W40 vs M1 5W40

It's been awhile since I last posted here, and man things have changed. It appears this site is alive and well. Anyway I wanted to get your take on these 3 oils for a near 100k mile LS1 Camaro. I've been using the GC the last 3 oil changes, but now that the mileage is getting up there and I'm...

finally found GC in my area

It's been awhile since I've been here, but I finally found some GC in my area. Wal-Mart doesn't carry the 0w30 in Syntec and neither does Advance. Only 1 of the Autozones had this stuff in and it's the M05 kind. Has anyone else had trouble finding GC? I'm in souther Indiana. I've been running...

    GC 0W30 vs M1 0W40 for LS1

It's been awhile since I've been here, but it's good to be back. I've searched this site for oil analyses of these 2 oils for LS1's, but can't seem to find an analysis for the 0W40. I have a 99 Camaro SS with 77k on it, and am using 0W40 with K@N filters, but the Autozones here do carry the GC...

    oil recommendation

I'm wanting to switch from Penzoil HM 10w40 to M1 but am not sure if the 0w40 or 15w50 would be better for my application. I have a 94 Grand Cherokee with 131k and it has the 318 motor. I know the HM stuff is on the high end of the viscosity range, but am not sure if the 15w50, though probably...

    M1 0w40?

I've heard mixed reports of this stuff due to the widespread viscosity ranges it has. Does it really shear down easily or easier than other 40wts or is it actually a good alternative to a 10w40 true synthetic? Jason

    Delvac vs Rotella

Both of these oils seems to be held in high regard. In terms of the 15w40 dino which one is better? I'm considering switching from GTX high mileage to one of these or perhaps the synthetic versions after the auto-rx treatments. Jason

Frank, just finished 1st auto-rx treatment now I got a question...

I just finished the first treatment. During the treatment, I thought it conditioned the valve guide seals enough to stop the blue smoke at startup. Well I was wrong. The Jeep (5.2) still smokes a little. I'm on the 2k between treatment right now and will use another bottle when that's up. Will...

    Penzoil high mileage oil

I just put some of this stuff in yesterday when I changed the oil. I noticed the color is noticeably darker than Castrol GTX high mileage as well as Coastal high mileage oil. What does this mean? Does this indicate the type of base stocks used? If so, which one uses the better stocks? Jason

Just switched from Carquest Premium (Wix) to Bosch Premium in my little experiemt...

In response to my pressure readings using the Wix filter before, I just changed the oil and got a Bosch Premium. The guage now varies when at a constant rpm, particularly highway speeds. From what I can tell the pressure readings seem to be maybe slightly lower on average. This is an auto-rx...

    TropArtic vs Formula Shell

As far as "gas station" brands of oil are concerned, which of these 2 is the best? Some like Shell because of its inherent cleaning ability and some such as Dragboat like the TropArtic because of its premium base stocks and moly (at least in the turbo oil). Jason

Switching from GTX HM to Forumula Shell yay or nay?

I'm considering switching or at least trying Shell because of its apparentl ability to keep engines and even clean out sludged engines better than most any dino oil. I won't do any analysis or anything, but is this a good or bad idea? I'm pretty confident, but thought I'd run this by all the oil...

GTX high mileage vs Penzoil high mileage

Which one has had better analysis results? I use GTX high mileage right now because MaxLife isn't as good as it used to be plus regular GTX is a better oil than Valvoline. Jason

Re to the topic "So far, not particularly impressed with K@N filter..."

You probably remember me posting this saying that after I switched from a Bosch Premium to a K@N, I noticed a slight pressure drop throughout the rpm range. Well I just got the Jeep back from the mechanic with a new oil pump and a MUCH cleaner pan and pickup. It was so bad he had to use a wire...

    Who makes Car Quest filters?

The Car-Quest part store sells filters under their name for around $6. Who makes these filters? I'm guessing Wix, but have no basis for it. Jason

    auto-rx vs rislone

I know the auto-rx is most likely a better product and has proven to work very well, but rislone has been around for a long time and from the looks of the website it seems it would work very similar to auto-rx. Does it actually work as advertised? Jason

mopar oil filters good or bad??

I noticed Jegs sell these for $7. Who makes these filters, and are they as good or better than say a Bosch Premium or Wix or any other of the better filters? Jason

So far, not particularly impressed with K@N Gold Filter...

I'm about 750 miles into my oil change with a K@N filter and 10w40 GTX high mileage oil which is what I used before this change. The K@N didn't seem to really help the cold weather lifter bitching, but I'm not for sure on that yet as the temp has been up and down alot lately. Also, my oil...

whats the part # for an oversized filter for a 94 Grand Cherokee 5.2?

need this for the Bosch Premium and K@N filter. I'm changing the oil tomorrow and need to know beforehand. thanks Jason

Best filter for $6 or under

What is your favorite/the best filter out there for $6 (U.S. money) or under? My vote goes for the Bosch Premium, sold for 5.99 at Autozone. Jason

    Wix filters any good?

I noticed these in the local O'Reilly parts store. They sell for about the same as the Bosh Premiums. One thing I noticed is they have an anti-drainback valve. Other than that I have no clue how good they are. Do the Bosch Premiums have these as well? Jason
