Out with the Diesel LB7 in with the 6.0/ 4L80E

Well we put a lot of work in the boys diesel, more than I care to talk about. It developed a weird surge cold that would get better when warm. Then over 2100 rpm it would cut power than come back on. Like over boost cutout. Scanner showed nothing. Starts and idles perfect. Good compression. 4...

Renogy solar power install out building.

I have about 1200 dollars in the system. Renogry 400 watt premium. You have to buy the battery and inverter separately. Inverter has provisions for Romex. I installed a few outlets some shop lights. It was really easy. Nice to have power in this building. It gets direct sunlight all year. I...

New Cub Cadet Zero Turn ZT1 54

Should have bought one 38 years ago when I started mowing. It was on sale for 3299.00 plus 10 percent military discount. Fabricated deck, Kohler engine. It cut my mowing time in about half. I kept the Cub XT2. I found homes for all my other mowers. Gave them to people who needed them

LB7 injectors. Nope done with that.

Well...The boys truck needed injectors. So here goes. We recently replaced the CP3 pump and drove it about 500 miles. Noticed the crankcase was filling up with fuel. So we figured injectors or a leak from the injector return lines. We pulled everything apart (the last person in there was not...

    Picked up an ICON T10

After watching South Main Auto, I finally decided to get a legit scan tool. I will use it tomorrow on the boy's 2003 Duramax. Looks really nice. Can't wait to try it out. Also does ABS bleeding.

2023 Ford Explorer 2.3 rental review.

Another trip back east another rental car. 2023 Ford Explorer 2.3 turbo. 36,900 miles. 3 row seating. Leather and a few other options. Engine has plenty of power for this vehicle, actually surprised me. Shifts are eh, it is better in sport mode. Could just need a relearn. Certainly not the...

This followed me home. Another free one.

LTX 1000. 20 hp Briggs & Stratton. Pressurized oiling system. It is all there Well it has been sitting 7 years because of a bad deck pulley. A bit rough. Pulled the carb cleaned it. A little piston soak. Fired right up runs and moves great. Will probably just give this one away to someone who...

    Picked up a free LT2000

It was actually given to me. A friend of mine knows I like messing with mowers. Well, he had this one a long time. He couldn't get it to start. I told him to let me look at it. I think he just wanted a new one. It sat outside for a while. Someone cut the wiring harness. Battery connectors and...

Under the valve cover 2005 Buick 3800.

Did the valve cover gaskets on the Buick today, 152,000. Still runs so good. Here you go. Car has had a steady diet of conventional 5W-30 since new. 4000-to-5000-mile oil changes. I have Valvoline in it right now.

    2023 1.5/CVT Malibu Rental car.

This one had 17,000 miles on it. Was comfortable with heated seats. Pretty tight overall. Tight steering. No rattles, which surprised me, rental in New England. I put at about 400 miles on it. Some of those were two trips from Boston Logan to Newport RI. about an hour and half. Really good...

Looked, according to the computer lifetime mpgs were over 16 mpg. Fully loaded interior was comfortable, power everything. To include memory...

Tell me about Mazda, maybe the CX 30

So my daughter will be driving soon and we'll the wife and I think she needs some nanny features the Buick just does not have. So we have floated the idea of giving her the Malibu and getting the wife something lightly used. I am going to give the Buick to someone who needs a car if we go this...

Griots all in one ceramic wax

Washed and waxed the truck and Caprice today. I REALLY like this wax. Worked awesome on the 2003 Duramax too! Has been my favorite wax to use in years!

    First tow in the truck.

WAY BETTER than expected. It really destroys the old 1 ton. That 10 speed is phenomenal. The 6.6 is more than adequate for the trailers I tow. It was only about 50 miles round trip but there are two good sized hills. Where the old truck might see 3800 to 4000 RPM on those hills to go 60, this...

    Stupid question about oil

So the Caprice has an 8 quart sump. I have 7 quarts of Mobil 1 5W-30. I don't want to open the other 5 quart container I have that is for the Malibu... Who among the fine folks at BITOG would throw a quart of Castrol 10W-30 conventional in there? I think I am going to do it.

Rental Car review 22 Jeep Compass

So I will say this one has 42,000 miles on it and lives in New England I have had a lot of rentals this year. A Colorado, Mustang, Escape, Camary, Sportage, a few Cadillacs and a Jetta. This thing makes me miss my 2002 Jetta TDi. Most here know how I felt about that. The worst rental I have had...
