Had a 12 CRV in for rear brakes - it got Denso pads and powerstop geomet rotors. So far no complaints with the Denso pads.

What's our favorite air filter now?

Doing primarily euro stuff - Mann, hengst, mahle was my first grab. However been using a LOT of parts plus/premium guard ones lately. Local supplier has them in stock, they are cheap, and now that I have a lube/maint tech im doing a lot more air filters + waiter services.

    FCS Shocks and Struts

Just put some up front on a Volvo c30. Road pretty well, didn’t make noise, and didn’t sit funny. If it holds up I’d use it again. Don’t normally use quick struts (much rather build struts OE, sachs, or Bilstein) but in the off instance I’d probably use again

Anyone getting Honda 15400-RTA-003 filters at the dealer instead of the PLM-A02?

Bought one the other day A02 was billed out but actually received the 003

Why don't Honda/Acura V-6 Owners Replace Their Timing Belts?

It’s not a bad job so it makes sense to sell parts at say 20-30% margin + labor and it’s an easy car to get in/out.

Why don't Honda/Acura V-6 Owners Replace Their Timing Belts?

Yeah we get about $2k for a timing belt job (aisin) or about $3k with oil pump reseal. Includes right engine mount and serpentine belt tensioner.

    2024 Audi Q5 Premium 2.0T (37K miles) - oil change interval question

Mobil 1 ESP 0W20 These cars are really bad about water pump leaks. It’s easier to pull the intake to do them and thus it’s a good time to either scrape or walnut blast the valves. Do that in one shot saves you on labor. Heck you may even go one step further and do the oil cooler and filter...

    Asian manufactured oil filters

I use Premium Guard stuff (Parts Plus) when I’m in a pinch (don’t stock or out of stock). I also really like the Full brand oil filters (made in Thailand)

Duralast Elite w/ Gold Rotors vs Bosch Quietcast Combo

I like Advics pads on Toyotas, if you’re buying from rockauto I’d probably get Bosch rotors

    Denso Brake Pads

Had a 2021 Odyssey in for a 4 wheel brake job - used Akebono pads/rotors initially however ended up with a rotational noise under hard braking from the right front. Ended up swapping the pads to fix it and used Denso pads - hadn’t seen them before. OE pads on back order from what the local...

What brake pads have a very good cold bite and low dust?

I really like the Advics pads as well, better cold bite than the Akebono pads, low dust, and never had a single noise complaint with them.

2017 VW Golf All Track Water Pump Replacement

Gen 1/2 TSI - I prefer OE, however if aftermarket metal I’ve have had much better results with Geba than than Graf. Gen 3 TSI - INA pumps for sure. In either case OE unions, the supplied or WorldPac unions aren’t the greatest

Mix and Match brake rotor brands. Your thoughts?

Per axle doesn’t matter - if a car gets a single axle brake job it’s going to be mismatched and there is no harm. Per corner - yeah that’s weird, wouldn’t do it on my own car but in the real world it happens sometimes - accident cars (insurance only paying for one side), you might get a car...
