I cannot believe that this thread is 17 years old! WOW~! Well, i just put Pennzoil ultra platinum 5w30 in my 2025 Mazda CX5 NON turbo that calls for 0w20. :) LOVE IT.. 4.8 quarts exactly, oil drain plug torqued to specs and a Mazda OEM Filter from Japan.....17 years. Wow.

This just made the decision for me to go with AMSOIL until Pennzoil explains the changes ..I’m out too much mystery here with all the changes

Let us know if that happens. I know on my skyactiv 2.5 NA i used 5w30 with no issues on one of the break in oil changes . I DID however, go back to 0w20 Mazda Gf6 oil for the winter but plan on going back to 5w30-(Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or Amsoil probably) for the next oil change I think, I...

I hear that about Austrailia and caught a few posts somewhere (cant remember where) where a few people were running the 5w40 in these skyactiv engines as well!

If Im not mistaken, I think its the 5w30 that does not contain the moly. The 0w20 still does. Just not sure how much.. but anyway, i dont blame you.. . I tried Pennzoil Ultra Platinum..may just go back to that as well

They (mazda brand) does not print the "high moly" anymore. Just got five quarts of the newer gf6 0w20 Mazda oil and it DOES say on the back it contains moly but no more printed "high moly"..or "with moly" on the front anymore.. That does not mean it does not have high moly. Been trying to find...

yes escaping the road salt too which eats away these mazdas.. good info. and good to know. I believe that 2016 skyactive "Called for " 0w20 as well? I love it when people use 5w30 and totally disregard the CAFE nonsense. As. you can see Ive learned a lot since I originally posted this! :)
