I don't really use my crv much, so I change the oil and Honda original filter (made by Mann Siam) every 3 years (7500 miles). The last time I did that, I opened up the used filter, and saw nothing abnormal.

Immediately after your oil change, there are fewer particles in the oil so I'm inclined to start with the less efficient filter. At the 7500 mile mark, the oil is now dirtier so it makes sense to now use the more efficient filter.
