    Waxed car = Higher MPG?

HUGE chrome or polished aluminium wings dry-wall screwed to the trunk deck will boost mileage and keep Neons from becoming airborn during high speed runs.

Mercedes, VW, Import dealers. Diesels. Says Im wasting my time.

RAZL, Run the Passat's numbers (mileage, fuel cost, service cost, insurance, initial cost, etc...) up against a Malibu 4 cyl. If your wife is on the highway a lot, this might be an economical consideration. Sure domestics aren't as dope & depreciate faster, but 30% of $20k is a less than 28% of...

new brakes + dual piston caliper + seized piston = trouble

$55/Ea. at www.bimmerparts.com I have bought bunches of VW & Audi stuff from this outfit w/o any problem. Many things ship same-day. (It is really just on of the many storefronts for Worldpac...supplier of OE parts to many independant shops.) [ October 11, 2005, 01:17 PM: Message edited by...

    Oil for 88 Scirocco 16V

    - Sacremento - 80's VW - No seal leaks MOBIL 1 15w50 This oil is liquid gold for the good old VWs. I used to run it year-round in Indy in my '83 JH Scirocco...did for 10 years w/o any problem. Keeps the engine clean as a whistle. Also ran it in my old Rabbit diesels, a host of A2 Golfs and mix...

new brakes + dual piston caliper + seized piston = trouble

They are rebuilt by Automotive Caliper Exchange Inc. out of California. In my experiance I've seen many "Japanese" caliper slides/pins sieze, but have never seen a piston sieze unless a boot was damaged, the car sat for a looooong time, or the car was sunk. If this were my van and I took it...

Mercedes, VW, Import dealers. Diesels. Says Im wasting my time.

Used VWs ARE a maintenance nightmare...not just TDIs. I would not even consider any used VWs. Some VWs have 40k timing belts on interference engines! Fuel filter changes are ‘fun’ and messy, and their electronics are very problematic. The new VW TDI and has some reduced care & maintenance, but...

    Bad Strut.. what happens now?

A strut is a shock and spring unit used to replace an upper control arm. A strut has a shock in it. Some struts can have the shock R&R'd, usually front struts. Some, usually rear, the shock and lower spring perch are all one unit and need R&R'd together. Typical shocks are not combined with...

    Goodyear Wrangler Radials at Walmart

ANYTHING but Goodyear! I'd prefer used Coopers over new Goodyears. Just never had a good, Goodyear tire, ever. I have 4 Goodyear Eggs on my wife's '04 Quest. These are Eagle LS2, supposedly one of thier top-shelf touring tires. I have bought bicyle tires with better build quality than what I...

    Goodyear Wrangler Radials at Walmart

And they get a good close-up of the Eagle GT on the DeLorean...during the Lybian attack. Had 4 Eagle GTs on a 1985 Chevy Celebrity Eurosport. 2 had slipped belts by 10k.

Which is the best oil for my needs

I would go with one of the Phillips semi-syn 5 or 10w30 oils. Kendall, Motorcraft, Phillips 66, or Trop Artic...they are supposedly virtually identical with Trop Artic being a bargain if you can find it. I would however cut the oil/filter changes to 5k, with any non-group IV oil though. Over...

    Who gets Propane for $1.063/gallon?

I do believe that my electric provider is one of the lowest in the country. Heating ~2000sf with my heat pump cost about $300. The old gas house was ~1000sf and ran about $500 to heat per season, and that was from the mild '01-'02 winter. Ok, maybe my ball-park figures were off. 1/2 the square...

    Need advice on leftover oils.

Yea...mix'em & run it. If you have an in-law with a smoke-blowing GM 4.3, mix the stuff up in a 10w30 Super Tech or Valvoline High-Mileage jug and let them use it.

    Who gets Propane for $1.063/gallon?

$2.40 - $1.063 = $1.33 more per gallon I think the Propane Council needs to adjust their reasoning!

    Who gets Propane for $1.063/gallon?

I know propane ran short a couple years in Indiana, when an Ohio firm (Level Propane) secured a bunch of contracts then went belly-up half-way into the heating season. People were paying over $2/gallon (short-term delivery), if I remember correctly, plus having to have a tank from a new supplier...

    Trop Artic Semi 10w30 Winter

I've run M1 15w50 and Rotella 15w40 year round in Indiana for years in passanger cars. Trop Artic's 10w30 is fine for the midwest...it pours better than many 5w30!
