What about the Sodium, or is this an additive in M5K? Seems like sodium would be corrosive. Any other oils adding it?

Honda filters are from Honeywell (FRAM) with fiber end caps. Honda recommends the filter be changed every other oil change (15k miles), so they believe fiber end caps will perform fine. The filter I have cut open after 7500 looks to be in perfect condition. I don't see any problem with the end...

Did you not get an oil presure indicator? Seems like that is the failure at fault for major damage.

With the way the filter folds have spread open, I don't see how that much of the filter media is effective. With the folds mostly collapsed, there is not really a path through the folds for the oil, except the area surrounding the core. This seems to be the case with all tightly pleated filters...

Curious the 99.9% is stated at 40 microns. Might be slightly relaxed spec to hit the oem flow requirement. A PL10241 says 20 microns but references PL30001 in the footnote??
