What about the Sodium, or is this an additive in M5K? Seems like sodium would be corrosive. Any other oils adding it?

What the heck happened to oil prices !!!

This year for me has been the lowest net prices in 25 years. Watch the specials board. I just bought 12 qts at Sears for Val Dura Blend for $.97, clearance. I have multiple 5 qt jugs of QSUD, VNG, G-oil all FAR, just paid the tax. Mobil 5k 5qts with filter $5 AR. I have a stock of more than 50...

    Video about Fram end caps

Honda filters are from Honeywell (FRAM) with fiber end caps. Honda recommends the filter be changed every other oil change (15k miles), so they believe fiber end caps will perform fine. The filter I have cut open after 7500 looks to be in perfect condition. I don't see any problem with the end...

Did you not get an oil presure indicator? Seems like that is the failure at fault for major damage.

    Mobil 1 vs. Pennzoil Platinum

I use to believe in M1 being the superior retail syn, but after 50k on a GM ShortStar which developed stuck piston rings, I lost my faith. I am currently attempting to clear the problem. Anyway I like PP and PU claims to clean pistons and sludge. I have some PU (FAR) to try next OC.

    Radiator/Coolant servicing at 60K for a civic?

I would follow the owner manual. My 2006 Civic manual says "Do not add any rust inhibitors or other additives to your vehicle's cooling system. They may not be compatiable with the coolant or engine components." This is especially true for the Honda/Toyota type coolant, You are just risking and...

    Microgard MGL16 - 17k+ miles, 1.5 years

With the way the filter folds have spread open, I don't see how that much of the filter media is effective. With the folds mostly collapsed, there is not really a path through the folds for the oil, except the area surrounding the core. This seems to be the case with all tightly pleated filters...

    My oil filter shrine

I feel like my supply of 6 per vehicle is excessive, of course I use quality oil and follow the service manual and OLM which is 7500 miles and >8 months for me. I was even thinking I should follow the Civic manual with every other oil change getting a filter change. I feel the best deal on oil...

PUREONE PL14610 CUT OPEN -- PICTURES
