    I hate Texas toll road!

Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania turnpike is like government extortion. Interstate throughways and city bypasses should have been mandated from the being to be free of tolls.

You may someday find you own $$$ and regret failure to pay.

Do toll-free phone numbers have much relevance today?

Old saying, what was wired now wireless (phones), and what was wireless is now wired (tv). Another one, call the person not the place. Even so, wired phones can be line powered and more reliable. I gave mine landline up first due to cost, went to much cheaperVOIP, then gave it up once...

To oil or not oil OPE foam pre-filters

My John Deere 170 manual says after cleaning to use motor oil on the pre-filter, approximately 1 oz. I used some K&N filter oil I had and put drops all over and wearing a glove squeezed the foam to work the oil around for even coverage. I'm sure the paper filter will absorb some oil but minor...

98 Expedition - Need Some Diagnostic Help - Noise and Vibration

I am trying to identify the source of noise and slight vibration felt through floor driver and passenger sides, that occurs loudest between 35-60 mph. Vehicle is 98 Sienna. Front wheel bearings replaced 3 years ago, TRW, rear ones last year 2000 miles ago. Tires new 3 years ago. Carrier bearing...

    [Cut Open] PL14610 6,700 mi

Poor looking filter IMO. Strange this same filter model and manufacturing plant, used for similar miles in 06 Civic can look so different. My past filters though were 2010 or earlier date codes, and used over a longer periods (short trips) had relatively straight pleats.

Does Oil Filter Efficiency Increase with Usage?

I would only trust real world data here and not assume loading is the main factor in play during the interval. These tests that use various materials to simulate oil contamination provide limited insight. Plus Toyota and Honda specified oil filters gives credibility that extreme efficiency is...

I Cut Open Three Random Purolators Today

Since you have access to a variety of filters you might want to look at the known problem part numbers, if available to you. I am one that have used the top 2 problem model PureOnes over for over 8 years. In my Toyota the 10241's clearly show media breakdown in the typical location. My Honda use...

Clear to me the Denso has the better design and manufacturing quality. That plus Purolator on my Toyota a proven fail.

Oil Filter Comparison by Filtration, Capacity,Flow

Here is the best oil filter overview of performance factors I have come across. Anatomy of an Oil Filter With the very low temperatures this last week I also feel this likely applies to the multiple PL10241 fatigue cracks (in the wide spaces pleats) I have experienced. " Cold Oil and High...

Brand new unused virgin L14477 cut open

This filter model had one reported failure, not one of the real problem models. Based on my experience with multiple PL10241's, I would be checking these. I no longer use the 10241 in my vehicles.

How Often Do Filter Go Into Bypass Mode?

Maybe the reason Toyota and Honda opt for better flow than micron filtration is to limit or eliminate regular bypass and thus prevent flushing the particles that accumulate in the filter. The only upgraded filter would then be synthetic media to maintain OEM flow. If winter is when bypasses are...

Motor Week - Goss - filter fumble

His message that the quality of the filter does matter, is spot on. The production of the segment is what is flawed. If you separate the filter visual from the verbiage you would be hard pressed to discredit his message. Certainly would help if his props were more aligned to the message and...
