Do you wipe off the oil filter mounting surface during install?

As long as I can reach it, then yes I do.

jump starting with donor vehicle running or off?

I would say running....I tried jumping a Cherokee with my Frontier running, it wouldnt quite crank over the Cherokee even with my Fronty running. But I did not think to give it some throttle while they were trying to crank the Cherokee. Ashame really because the pretty girls were in need ;)...

Toyota dealer uncertainty in the oil viscosity used

This is exactly why Im not a fan of dealer oil changes. Maybe I just dont have enough guts but I wont stand there in the service bay and watch them change my oil. So, the only way I know what went into the engine is to read the work order. And thats just a piece of paper. Yes, technically it...

Which auto restoration shows on TV are good or do you watch?

I gave up on TV series once FantomWorks ended. Fun fact - my dad is good friends with the owner :) Over on YouTube I like Taylor Ray.....he has a whole series of videos dedicated to Cummins swap into his Ford F series dually. Does all his own fab work, etc. And you see just about everything...

    Regretted Selling a Car?

I regret selling my first brand new car: 1998 Neon R/T (I know, its just a Neon). 2 doors, 155HP, 5 speed manual....that was such a fun little car and it surprised a whole lot of people that tried to race me :)

What oil for 2019 Chrysler 5.7L Hemi

Yeah, I have the MaxCare Lifetime warranty, so not much extra gets done to my truck so they cant void it. It does seem to help just removing a few of the shutter slats, which are at least easy to re-install if necessary.

Anything replacing Closed Pep Boys stores ?

3 weeks ago I actually had Pep Boys mount and rebalance some tires for me. They were open on a Sunday, relatively inexpensive and did a good job. Would be ashame to see them go under, since most of the other alternatives around me are Firestone/Meineke/Midas type places, which seem to be very...

What oil for 2019 Chrysler 5.7L Hemi

This is why I wont trust the build sheet and will have to look for myself :) once the snow goes away.

What oil for 2019 Chrysler 5.7L Hemi

There have been loads of people on RAMForum trying the t-stat thing, but with all of the crap on the truck that purposely makes it "warm", the cooler t-stat doesnt necessarily help unless you do other things like remove the active grille shutters, replace clutch fan with electric and get a tune...

What oil for 2019 Chrysler 5.7L Hemi

Looks like I do! And if its true, Im not overly impressed? I watch my oil get to 220-ish on a regular basis. However, it seems to keep the same temperatures no matter what the ambient temp is, so maybe the system is working (driven it for long periods in 30 degree weather and 95 degree weather)

What oil for 2019 Chrysler 5.7L Hemi

Im looking at various Mopar parts sites and I dont see any oil cooler that is 2018+ only. Its listed on my 2017, as well as 2018+ trucks....am I missing something? Is it possibly just not there on all trucks? Im curious but with 1.5 feet of snow on the ground, Im not curious enough to go look...

Toyota dealer uncertainty in the oil viscosity used

Yeah he is VERY active in the very long Synthetic Oil thread on RAMforum I tried the RL and it did make my Hemi sound quieter. But I drive so little (6K/year before Covid, not even close now), it seems a waste to change out $65 worth of oil once a year, so Im searching for less expensive...

Toyota dealer uncertainty in the oil viscosity used

You cant tell me NO one has tried it yet :) I almost considered it (I assume in the near future FCA will say the Hemi now needs 0W-20 only....)

Going strictly Top Tier, after having just used whatever.

Interesting, didnt realize there was an actual spec. Next time Im there I will check the label (and this time Ill take a pic). Is MTBE the same thing as ethanol? Could they be using MTBE in a higher % and still qualify as "top tier"?

    Direct Injectors

Great job on those injectors. I notice they were off an '08? Has anything improved in this regard with newer vehicles? One of the reasons I went with a RAM 1500 over the F150 was because of DI (or rather, the lack thereof on the 5.7L Hemi!). I always read different opinions of if DI will or...

    Hyundai Dealership Rant

My first ever Japanese branded vehicle (2000 Honda Accord) was blessed with the beginning of the 4/5 speed automatic transmission debacle. At 1200 miles it was diagnosed as needing a replacement transmission. Horrible beginning but whatever. They replaced the transmission, life went on. Until...
