There are also aftermarket addons stop the deactivation. VCMuzzler for Honda VCM engines comes to mind.

You may want to shorten your OCI if you have such an engine.

Why not use a marine oil?

As others have mentioned, Honda camshaft galling issues were a plague for a time period covering this engine. I doubt they were all using AMSOIL.

For a short timne, we had a Honda VCM engine. I just disabled the VCM with the VCMuzzler. We got rid of that car for other reasons than the VCM engine.

I've returned an Everstart battery to a walmart for a new one based entirely on the sticker since I did not save the receipt. It's Walmart's policy (or was around 2015 when I did this).

It actually works in your favor if you should need to return the battery to walmart without having the original receipt.

Do you know the source of the filter? was it purchased from a honda dealer, ebay etc?

I've always had about 3/4 quart consumption on a 7000k OCI on a 2007 Honda pilot EX 3.5L. I started using Maxlife HM and Mobil 1 HM about 40k miles ago, when I hit 110k. The HM made zero difference.

I'm still on the fence over installing a valve of some type on my newer Honda. What's keeping me from doing it is the prospect of a dealership oil change that may occur and the problems that will arise.
