Australian auto magazine compares 18 oils

Aha, I just found this from Street Commodores. Excerpt: The information we've learned since then suggests the test we performed may be irrelevant. Some sources have advised us that the test we used would have been better served testing some of our favourite greases rather than the engine oils...

Australian auto magazine compares 18 oils

My apologies if this has been submitted before. I did a search but couldn't find it. I came across this article on the Planet-9 Porsche forum: Oils Ain't Oils - Street Commodores I'm very curious to hear what you experts (claimed and real ) have to say about this. I'm particularly interested...

Switching from GC to PU 5W-30 on a Subaru turbo?

Good deal. Thanks for the input. I may do a UOA mid-OCI to see if there is anything out of the ordinary, but I suspect it will work well.

Switching from GC to PU 5W-30 on a Subaru turbo?

I've got a 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero (mechanically almost identical to a Subaru WRX) with an upgraded turbo, ECU, etc. I've done three oil changes with GC and done a UOA on two of them. GC has performed well in my Subaru motor. No surprises there. I just went to pick up some more GC when I saw that...

German Castrol in a 05 Saab 9-2X Aero / Subaru WRX

I'm resurrecting this thread to ask you informed people about a change in oil... I've done three oil changes with GC and done a UOA on two of them. GC has performed well in my Subaru motor. No surprises there. I just went to pick up some more GC when I saw that Pep Boys has a deal on Pennzoil...

Just picked up some myself. This is an AWESOME deal. GC changes with a filter were costing me almost $45 previously!

Thanks for the replies! What do you guys think about the Si and Cu? Could it be that there's some of both in GC? I've heard this mentioned over on the NASIOC forums but figure that you guys are the ones to ask!

German Castrol in a 05 Saab 9-2X Aero / Subaru WRX

I've read that the old green GC had lots of calcium and very little magnesium, but the new gold GC has less calcium and a lot more magnesium. Stills turns good UOAs though.

German Castrol in a 05 Saab 9-2X Aero / Subaru WRX

Hey all, I just got my Blackstone Used Oil analysis: http://imgur.com/kWtd0.png This was on a ~52K 9-2X Aero (rebadged 2005 Subaru WRX with some blush and lipstick) with 3334 miles on German Castrol and a Wix 51365 oil filter. This is the first oil change with German Castrol. The previous...

German Castrol on a WRX turbo in the Texas summer?

This is some fantastic info. I really, really appreciate it! I'll give Shell Rotella T, etc., a look. FWIW, I've got ~53K miles on it. I may do a UOA on the GC and see how it fairs against 5K miles on Rotella T. Thanks again!

German Castrol on a WRX turbo in the Texas summer?

Hey all, The previous owner of my 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero (mechanically identical to a 2005 Subaru WRX wagon) used Mobil 1 religiously. From everything I've read here and on NASIOC, Subaru engines consume absurd amounts of Mobil 1. As a result, I decided to change to German Castrol based on all the...
