Is Mobil 1 0w-40 too thin?

This is a follow up post to a post I made earlier and mistakingly put in the PCMO section. I have a ‘19 GLI (2.0T MQB) with an E85 tune. Car is spec’d for 0w20, I typically run a 504 spec 0w30. Most over there suggested what I was thinking, jump to a 40w oil to combat fuel dilution with E85. My...

    Thicker oil with E85?

Appreciate the responses everyone. I meant to post this in the Euro section originally, that’s my bad. Would something like Mobil 1 Euro 0w40 be an ok choice? Cheap at Walmart, just change it often?

    Thicker oil with E85?

Currently my ‘19 GLI 2.0T is tuned on E85 - power wise around 340-360 IIRC. Car is spec’d for 0w20, which I already have replaced with ESP 0w30. The e85 was a recent addition and in my research, I see some in the tuning group suggest a 40w to help account for the dilution issue that E85...

Oil for predator powered pressure washer?

Hey guys, picking up a new Predator gas pressure washer from HF today, 223cc. Recommended is 10w30, anything specific I should reach for oil wise? How often are we changing? I’m oddly not at all versed in small engines.

Spark plugs for tuned Volkswagen MQB?

Appreciate it man! You’re a wealth of VW knowledge, lol. I picked up a set of IKH24’s to run for the time being, I can’t see any reason why those won’t do fine.

Spark plugs for tuned Volkswagen MQB?

Hey everyone, I currently am running the Integrated Engineering Stage 1 93 tune on my ‘19 Jetta GLI. Currently I have RS7 factory plugs in it (NGK). I’ve been told by IE and other tuners to drop those plugs due to the potential of them breaking apart from the ground strap. I’m wondering what...

Is using a 504/507 oil in place of 508/509 an issue?

Honestly, good question! Curiosity was really all, I’ve owned multiple VW’s spec’d with either 508, or 502 so I’m not very familiar with the 504 spec. Mostly just making sure I wasn’t missing something that would make it a bad option!

Is using a 504/507 oil in place of 508/509 an issue?

Currently in my 2019 GLI 2.0T I run Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 (504/57 spec) and have for the last 20k, changing every 5k. The car is spec'd for 0w20 (508/509). The car is tuned by Integrated Engineering (Stage 1 ECU & DSG) and I've used a thicker oil since being tuned per their suggestion. They still use...

Newer VW Gen3 engines with blue smoke?

I realize this topic has been discussed before but, I didn’t see anything super recent or exactly what I’m seeing - it’s been a common issue, at least to a point with newer Volskwagen 1.8T & 2.0T Gen3 engines that a buff of white/blue smoke is seen at startup, and sometimes also under heavy...

2023 Mercedes GLE 350 oil weight

As long as the oil you pick meets the spec you’re after, all is well. It would be one thing if you were tracking the vehicle or tuning it, but for a factory Benz engine, 229.72 is fine, as are the others. If it were me, I’d run a good quality 30w and call it a day

MK7 Volkswagen GLI, change viscosity after tune?

Will do! Yeah, I'm not anticipating any issues either but better safe! ESP locally isn't expensive enough to not do it

MK7 Volkswagen GLI, change viscosity after tune?

Thank you guys for your replies! Picked up M1 ESP 0w30 today to replace the 0w20, which will be sent to Blackstone to see how it faired with the tune.

MK7 Volkswagen GLI, change viscosity after tune?

Hey folks, happy Sunday. Coming up on an oil change on my 2019 VW Jetta GLI and had a couple questions. Recently I had the car tuned with Integrated Engineering, on their Stage 1, High Torque tune. I also had the DSG tune done. This MY was one of the first of VW calling for 0w20 instead of a...

Napa 5w40 Euro - Great price, Valvoline clone?

Happened to come across Napa’s house brand Euro 5w40 today, normally $8.99 but for whatever reason one store near me was selling it at $4.28/quart, so I bought all they had, will be changing out for it tomorrow in my Jetta. The back of the bottle says something along the lines of “Designed by...

Rotella T6 as a Euro application

Alright, to get it out of the way, I know this oil isn’t approved for any Euro application outside of many some select diesels. What’s the consensus on how T6 would do in say, a VW or BMW application? My biggest reason for asking is I used to be a Subaru owner, and most Subie guys seem to...
