Bought a GPS online, great deal but it was hacked

There are dangers buying off ebay. Buying a counterfeit unit is one of them. Many manufacturers only offer support on products bought from actual authorized dealers.

Almost New Mazda CX-9 Billowing Smoke

Our year old CX-9 gets an average of 21 mpg with the woman driving it to work every day. No smoke either. There have been a few trips to the dealer for warranty work though. One time, the actuating rod for the door locks in the front passenger door got disconnected somehow. The other trip was...

    2006 MazdaSpeed 6 DISI ,2900 miles PP 5W-30

Here is my report from back in February. I drive about 5 miles per day, so the oil doesn't really get warm. I do try to take it on longer trips or have the wife take it to work at least once per week. I try to change it at six months, but I got lazy and actually went seven months and about 2,900...

engine running while getting gas !!!

Well, my SpeedPass is on my keychain, so I pretty much need to shut the car off before getting gas. plus, I might go inside and grab a drink. My car has no issues starting, so I don't feel a need to let it run. Even up north, the car never got cold on the inside in the time it took me to fill...

    Thinking of getting Vonage.

We've had Vonage going on three years now and haven't had any major problems. The only minor problem was during installation of the second modem for the business and fax line. It was just a minor error that was corrected quickly.

What oil for your snowblower and why?

When I had my snowblower, I ran Mobil 1 5W-30. I had a lot of it around at the time and figured an $800 machine needed the good stuff. Alas, we moved two winters after I bought it. My father is now getting good use out of it. I have no idea if he is using Mobil 1 or not.

Automotive Picture of the Day - February 18, 2009.

On one of the MG forums, a guy has a great signature. British cars are like puppies, they are cute and leave puddles everywhere. Our 1970 MGB is the woman's car. She and her father restored it some 15 years ago. She drives it and I'm just the detailer and mechanic.

GM OLM should I follow it?

I've had good luck with the oil life monitors in the two GM cars we've owned in the past. On my Grand Prix, it took about 6,000 miles and UOA's showed positive results. On the Envoy, it actually went for 11,700 miles. The UOA on the Mobil 1 I used showed that the oil had some life left, but was...

    Daytona 500

If they would have started the race at 1:00 like they should, then it probably would've gotten in. The Dinger finished third, so I'm a happy guy.

    Pennzoil Platinum/5w30 3400 miles, 09 Mazdaspeed3

I'd love to find a beneficial additive that would help combat the fuel dilution. I just drained my 3,000 mile/7 month interval of Platinum and Blackstone has a sample. I do short trips (hence the mileage) so I think my fuel dilution might be pretty high.

Cartridge Filters have an "hour-glassing" problem

I did change my oil on Sunday. The filter element (Mazda OEM) had very little twisting. The only thing that caught my eye was that two pleats were spread much wider than the others. There was no tearing, but it did catch my eye.

    Beef and Weck sandwich?

By the way, it's Beef on Weck, you don't want to look like a tourist, do you. Yes, it is excellent. Add in wings and a fish fry and you'll see why people choose to live there.
